Red 60 years tribute: 288 GTO WIPUninen 05-31-2007, 05:02 AM Hello! First I'd like to say that I'm not a huge Ferrari fan, but this 288 GTO has influenced me since I was little, both styling and performance! And I also have to say -eventhough it is Italian (I think I just pissed them off :icon16: )- Ferrari has allways influenced someway to automotive culture and innovation. They're allways been the top notch, hi-tek, performance car make in the market. So this is my tribute to Ferrari, celebrating it's 60 year journey -and still counting- in automotive history. The starting point. Revell's Ferrari 288 GTO packs according the box 90 parts (that's not much). I'm going to add Acu Stion's PE set (made for fujimi kit). Also I'm going to plumb the engine and possibly open the front deck lid and since the kit isn't that good it needs quite a bit work done to make it look even half decent. Well lets move on to the pictures, I don't wan't to bore You with my blabbering, here you go: the box http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/gtostart1.jpg the few parts included in the box + the PE set http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/gtostart2.jpg the body (needs work, A LOT!) http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/gtostart3.jpg the air vents need to be opened up http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/gtostart4.jpg there's a minor sink valley (yes, it's about half inch wide that's why it's not a sink hole) but You probably can't see it since it's such a bad photo http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/gtostart5.jpg the seats need cleanin and some sanding and filling, well U get the picture literally :iceslolan http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/gtostart6.jpg oh my god, do you really call these thingies turbo's, Revell? Something needs to be done with these, FAST! http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/gtostart7.jpg the rims. Yes I allready stripped the chrome off, going to paint them aluminium plus they have to be widened in the back and narrowed in the front http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/gtostart8.jpg the PE set by acu stion http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/gtostart9.jpg the fronts air grille's need to be opened, there are quite a lot of sprue in them http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/gtostart10.jpg Brrrrhh. Did You know they call these tires at Revell? http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/gtostart11.jpg Now that's better. I borrowed these from Marui's 512 BB :naughty: http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/gtostart12.jpg Tha-tha-that-THAT'S IT FOLKS! For now, I have some progress pics waiting allready. Going to post them soon. Stay tooned  comments and critisism are welcome. And I appologise if I affended any Italians (it wasn't personal you are lovely people). drunken monkey 05-31-2007, 06:29 AM quit the beating on Revell: that started life as an Italeri kit. As usual though, inc ase you haven't read/heard about it before; test fit the exhaust/turbo/inatake set up carefully before commiting to the glueing. You also have to make sure that the top half of the rear subframe and the filterboxes fit. It's a real pain to get to that stage and realise that it's all skewed... Uninen 05-31-2007, 06:50 AM Thanks for the advice! I'll fit them before gluing. And I didn't know it was originally Italeri's kit, so I apologise for that. KE70 05-31-2007, 08:16 AM All the best to you. Uninen 05-31-2007, 03:01 PM Right, here's sum progress. I took the photos yesterday after I made one bit further etc. so this could be quite long thread after all. Well here are the pics: I cut the front grille off, hence there'll be a PE part (well actually several bits, 7-8 parts) http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/prog1.jpg opened those side vents a tad http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/prog2.jpg same on the other side http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/prog3.jpg opened those front grille's sprues http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/prog4.jpg here's the rear bumber, there'll be pe mesh on those holes http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/prog5.jpg That's it for the time being. Now I'll have to upload more of those pics to my photobucket so I can post em ere! Iriee, big up! Uninen 05-31-2007, 03:30 PM Here's a bit more progres pics. Here You can see the problem in the front http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/prog6.jpg sanded a bit... http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/prog7.jpg filed... http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/prog8.jpg and yet again sanded, problem solved. I also had to scribe the panel lines back http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/prog9.jpg the wheels dechromed, they also need sized front and back http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c76/Uninen/Fefelari288gto/prog10.jpg That's it. Next I'll need to do some progres to get something to update about. YoShImUrA_53 10-27-2007, 07:13 AM Any news on this beautiful italian? Uninen 10-28-2007, 07:18 AM Nope, sorry haven't had the time.
