89' cavalier Z24 VS. 96' Acura IntegraZ24cavalier 05-30-2007, 12:49 PM Hey i have a 89' Cavalier Z24 with the 2.8L in it and it is on great shape and is freshly tuned up. I have replaced the trannsmission, waterpump, altinator, filters, plugs, wires, ecm, all new brakes, new tires/rimsand some other small things under the hood. Now my friend is braggin about how his new 96' or so Acura Integra will blow my car off the road. His car however has a 1.7L inline 4 and i was thinking his car may be lighter but wont my 2.8L V6 smoke him? Im asking on here because i have never driven an acura integra or have really beena round them that much so any ideas on who would win in the 1/4 mile? also both cars are stock besides the parts i have replaced jakegday 05-30-2007, 05:02 PM im guessing you will lose, just cuz i drove a 2.8 cavalier once (not sure of the year) and it felt slower then my 86 plymouth reliant, which was NOT a fast car Z24cavalier 05-30-2007, 05:11 PM idk ive raced mine b4 against alota cars just quick little sprints little shorter then a 1/4 mile ive raced 4 differnt 5.0 mustangs and ive won twice and lost twice with my 2.8 so its not slow and i can get somewhat of a lead on them for a while but not enough power to keep up with them in the end usualy but idk ive never driven or really seen a integra actualy race against anyone millrtime 05-30-2007, 10:27 PM is the integra a coupe or sedan? imo that would make all the dif. my friend has a 4 door 98 integra v-tec 5-speed and stock to stock he blew the pants off my 2.2 eco. it was closer with my intake, but still not quite there. they are very light cars and his 1.8 vtec has just as much power as an eco, with alot less weight. OverAllComa 05-31-2007, 12:55 AM You'll take him off the line and he'll smoke you up top. Keep it on the track. No if's, and's, or but's. Besides, in the grand scheme of things, both cars are slow. Z24cavalier 05-31-2007, 12:25 PM yeah i know their lighter and have as much power as the ecotech 2.2L and im not sayin my car is any faster cuz idk much about the newer ecotech 2.2's but i have the older 2.8L and to say both cars are slow isnt quite true ive won many races with it. Its deff not a camaro with a 305 in it but it moves pretty damn good for a V6 shakewell 06-01-2007, 12:29 AM Race for the fun of it and for the experience. Just don't run your mouth before hand because he's probably going to blow you away. Z24cavalier 06-01-2007, 11:06 AM You'll take him off the line and he'll smoke you up top. Keep it on the track. No if's, and's, or but's. Besides, in the grand scheme of things, both cars are slow. I was guessing it would be the other way around, his car is lighter then mine so i figured hed get me off the line but i think i would catch up ina hurry and pass him but idk we'll just have to wait and see  Schister66 06-01-2007, 09:40 PM a 96 integra has a 1.8L by the way...also the trim of the car matters...if its a GSR, you have no chance at all, but if its an LS, you have a chance...just not a great one Mitek1981 06-20-2007, 03:56 AM I was guessing it would be the other way around, his car is lighter then mine so i figured hed get me off the line but i think i would catch up ina hurry and pass him but idk we'll just have to wait and see  Hey man so have you won or what? Z24cavalier 06-20-2007, 10:06 AM Hey man so have you won or what? we raced down our road (very short) it was just a little sprint he beat me but we took it to the 1/4 mile strip and when we launched he got a small lead on me but i blew past him in the end beat him overall his integra is faster then i thought it would be and its not a bad car but ill stick with my 88 Z Classicrocjunkie 06-23-2007, 09:41 PM my grandpa's mini van.... ;) Mitek1981 07-06-2007, 10:09 AM we raced down our road (very short) it was just a little sprint he beat me but we took it to the 1/4 mile strip and when we launched he got a small lead on me but i blew past him in the end beat him overall his integra is faster then i thought it would be and its not a bad car but ill stick with my 88 Z Congratulations! As I always said japanese cars are just a kind off small piece of junk. If you have a small bike - put in 2 more wheels and voila youve got a japanese car. People are mostly buying japanese cars (besides they cost much), korean and european. Some new Chryslers 300C 300M and Sebrings are becomig popular cause they are produced in our country and thats why they are relatively cheap. In fact almost all imported cars are expensive for instance new mustang costs 60.000$ vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
