On the way to work today I put the driver side window down and it will not go back up:banghead: . Do the switches wear out on these things before the motor goes? I know it is not a fuse because the passenger side works. Thanks.

hey the same thing happend to my truck. it turned out to be a loose wire. just take the panel off, test the switch w/ a ohm meter, and if it proves to work wiggle the wires on the motor and that should solve the issue.

I had the same thing happen on my 98 Silverado. The switches checked out ok as well as the connections. I pulled the motor and found it to have a "dead" spot in the windings. I was told this happens with use. Nothing to do but replace the motor. I found mine at Rockauto.

Just so happens, while I was taking it apart I decided it give it the "old starter" trick and tapped it with a hammer. Well low and behold it has been working ever since.

Arrow, hopefully that worked but don't be surprised if it stops working again. I had the same situation. Seems the motor would stop on a good part of the winding for a while but then hits the dead spot again. I kept putting it off util the window stopped working during a rainstorm and yes, it happened to be down.
