Front End Noiserywal2 05-30-2007, 12:05 AM Hello, i have a 1996 GC orvis edition, a few days ago i decided to have a little fun in the mud got stuck but wasnt a big deal. Now I have a noise coming from my front end when accelerating quicky like a grinding from the axle somewhere, I was wondering if this would be a U-joint? It's almost as if the front is sticking any help would be appreciated thanks! SteveB05 05-31-2007, 08:12 PM Could be. If you did any driving before the fun, you had hot parts. Hot parts when they hit the cooler mud cool quickly. This can cause a vacuum which sucks the mud into the part. Mud has a lot of grit in it and that is likely the cause of the noise, but where is a good question. Joe_theboob 06-01-2007, 03:37 PM I would also crawl under and take a real good look around - there may be a branch or something else rubbing against something. Also, if you towed it out of the mud, check whatever you attached the chain / rope to, you may have bent something zoman 07-02-2007, 11:18 PM same thing happened to me, front drive shaft is pretty delicate and can't take muddin too well, especially if its a CV shaft...got a new one and problem was solved. I'd first take it off and go for a short spin and see if the problem di:) sappears.... rywal2 07-02-2007, 11:32 PM yes i have removed the front drive shaft problem still happens.Im really leaning towards the transfer case now I think that some gears have been stripped as it grinds like crazy when i try to put it in 4low and it also slips out of 4 low easily so transfer case seems the only logical explanation as i have checked the front and rear diff gears as well Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
