Electra-t Type Electric Windows Problem

The oem part to fix this problem only fixes it half assed the window still goes up or down crookedly. I am looking for a fix that does not require the use of the plastic guide that goes into the hole at the backend of the window; that fix is unacceptable; and does not last, the new part breaks after a few months! The model year is 1987; the repair part from after market stores works even worse than the oem part. This plastic part goes into a hole in the glass then inserts into a track on the window frame. The purpose of the part is to allow the window to go up and down smoothly and straight. When it is missing or broken, the window goes down at a 45 degree angle and is very difficult to get back up into the fully closed position; anyone that has a Buick with this problem will know instantly what I am talking about; all help will be appreciated!

Does anyone in this forum have a better and permanant fix for this problem? I have the same problem on all four windows!

Welcome to AutomotiveForums, WB7WEK

I'm afraid that you're stuck with the window clip guide type system, GM didn't change to the "newer" window set-up until the early 90s. In the newer versions, the window channel is inside the doors, and the window stays level with it, whereas yours uses the small clip that you mentioned in your thread. The newer version is not interchangeable with yours, unless of course you pay big bucks for a major modification (I've yet to see this). I don't understand why the OEM channel clips don't last for you?
