Does this vehicle have a tranny filter?

Where is it? There seems to be no belly pan!!

On this link, go to Tribute:
http://www.drivetrain.com/mazdatruck_dt.htm

You will find the filter is internal and requires disassembly. Don't bother changing it. However, I would recomend changing all of the fluid. Use Dexron III not a synthetic.

Fortunately there is a drain plug. Then I remove a cooler line and pump out a measured amount of fluid and then fill with the same amount. Do this until all the fluid is clean looking.

Thanks for the info:

But I think that website has some credibility issues. I happen to have a 2000 MPV and a 2001 Tribute (OK, my kids have them ... not me). The trannys in the two vehicles look nothing alike. The MPV has a bottom pan and the filter change is a no-brainer.

But the website (linked) shows both to have a "CD4E". ???? I don't believe it!

I know this is an old thread, but my curiousity was aroused so I search this topic on the web.

Here is what I found. The CD4E is used in the Tribute.

Yep..the 2000 MPV has a different transmission...don't know the number of it though.
