New Jaguar XJ

I cant believe no one has posted about this! The new Jaguar XJ is on the way! Jag have managed to shed so much weight for the new XJR, it actually comes in lighter than the X-type!! Special aluminum was used to achieve a curvy body, which wouldnt be possible using normal aluminium. Performance and fuel economy will be vastly improved (not that there was anything wrong with performance in the previous model :D ) which will surely increase sales.
Models available will be a 240bhp 3l V6, 260bhp 3.5 V8, 300bhp 4.2 V8, and the XJR, weighing in at a stonking 400bhp from its supercharged engine.
I like the look of the front, its really not so different to the previous XJ, though the back has a few questions to answer to.... such as "why?" ;)

Details and pics available on:

The Jaguar saloons all look the same to me.

Well, they have a "family-face" but thats about it as far as i can tell.. although the new XJ is extremely similar to the old one... very conservative design evolution if you ask me

It is a quite nice clasic statley design though, with a great engine to power it underneath the bonnet... I think it will sell well!

Jaguar have done a great job, if they changed it too much it would have been a sin!

I agree. It does look like a nice classic.

jsb88

crayzayjay

slightly wishful thinking there eh? :D

Swoxy

I think because they've kept the design similar, the car will be popular for years to come.

crayzayjay

.. or it'll just age quicker

Swoxy
02-06-2003, 04:52 PM
Nope, Jags hide their age well.

Rolls Royce and Bentleys designs have never ages and they are still very similar from the 1930's!

That does look a little dated, but does ours really look 9 years old?

I would say 6 or 7.

crayzayjay
02-09-2003, 03:05 PM
no, i have to honestly say your jag looks younger than its age. :)

BUT, and there is a but here... the new XJ looks soooooo similar to the previous model that you could possibly say that upon reviewing it in a few years time, its design will have aged more than its age suggests, if you know what i mean.. having a little trouble expressing it in :D

I understand what you're saying but I don't agree with you! By the way I saw the new Jag on the road Saturday night, it was stopped at the side of a motorway exit with the hazards on, hope it wasn't broken down! We were traveling fast and it was dark but the car looked really good in a dark green colour I have never seen on a Jag before.

ahhh... the thrill of seeing a brand new model for the first time.... normally unforgettable (for me anyway), but in your case you might have to block out the image of a broken down new XJ! :hehehe:
pretend you havent seen it yet :)

crayzayjay
02-21-2003, 12:32 PM
oh yeah... my car's a rubber-burning, race-tuned machine... neck-snapping acceleration, power oversteer on tap, not only that but its a serious babe magnet... when i cruise down the street all girls' attention turns to me.... they stare at me as i drive by in my beast, my beauty, my unique... 1.6L Golf :hehehe:

maybe they stare at me for me and not my car haha

Swoxy

I meant that people looking at you is better than them looking at your car, no matter what you drive! What year is your Golf? And you guys don't like diesels? You ovbiosuly haven't heard of the BMW 330Cd Coupe. It has more tourque than an M3!

farbod

Oh I see… :)
My Golf’s a ’98 mk3. Im not against diesels in any way, if my employers offered me a company car it would undoubtedly be a 330cd, especially as the new one has a power hike (184 to 204) to accompany the mountains of torque. If it was my own money I would get a 330ci (sport) cos im a petrolhead at heart, and whilst torque is undoubtedly good, id ache for the power and top-end fury :D

Swoxy

I think hydrogen cell cars and hybrid dual fuel engines are the way foward for the near future, but if you visit the above link you will see an article stating that diesel can be man made.

farbod
04-07-2003, 10:28 AM

Swoxy
04-07-2003, 10:36 AM
Sure, BMW even made a 7 Series powered by hydrogen/gasoline. Information available at http://www.supercars.net/cars/2001@$BMW@$E65%20745h%20Conceptg.html.

farbod
04-07-2003, 10:38 AM
well thier is no need to say eny more if bmw trusted it to put it in the 7 series than it must be trust worthy
