ABS Light

First, let me say I've tried searching the forum for ABS problems and it returned nothing - I was hoping to avoid the lengthy dissertation that follows...

I have a 2000 SE that I have owned for about a year. The ABS light has been coming on intermittently for most if not all of that time. I had someone scan the computer a few months back, and it came back with "ISO Solenoid Fault". The mechanic suggested replacing the ABS ECM. Cheapest I could find one was over a grand, and would require re-bleeding the brakes once installed. I then found a guy on this forum who actually repairs the ECM which corrects 95% of ABS faults, and for a fraction of the cost. I had him do it, put it back in the truck, and it still gives me a code. The guy who repaired it wanted me to re-diagnose the code and get back to him. I tried the manual procedure he prescribed and couldn't get it to give me the code so I took it back to another mechanic to have him read it with an actual scanner. He tried for two hours, with two separate scanners as well as a manual method similar to the one I was prescribed, without any luck reading the code. He also noticed that the pin on the interface plug that was supposed to be a ground, had power, and he blew two fuses trying to ground it. He even spoke to the first mechanic to see how he scanned it, who apparently had great difficulty reading the code as well.

So, now I'm a little stuck as to how to diagnose the problem. I'm now not 100% sure that given the difficulty to diagnose that the first assessment was even accurate.

Sound familiar to anyone?

Did you check the actual ABS system? I'm not familiar with the code, but I've seen more than a few people have ABS warnings from dirt/rust fouling the sensor in the rear drums including myself. They're easy to pull and check.
