American brands don't build good cars, they build cool/pwnage cars. Can't choose one, though Chevy just sounds right somehow.

Every American manufactutrer makes a car that I like. So I dont have a favorite, but top picks go to:

Dodge - Charger SRT8 or even the Charger R/T Daytona
Chevy - Corvette Z06
Ford - Mustang GT500
Jeep - Because it's Jeep

Define "American" cars. Are you referring to the "Big 3", or American content? There are many "foreign' labeled vehicles that are now produced on American soil like Toyota, and Hyundai, whereas many "American" cars are made in Canada or Mexico.

im not talking about where the cars are made. I guess i was talking about all of the american car companys from chevy to ford from buick to pontiac.

Chevy probably builds the best even though they have a "3rd place" feel/look to them. Chevy and Pontiac are my two domestic brands that i would only consider purchasing.

The only good American made cars usually have a V8 driving the back wheels and even then some of them can be questionable.

I like Chrysler and Jeep mainly. Then Dodge makes some nice models. For Chevy, there'd be only the Corvette. And the Cadillacs have nice shapes, even if the rest is not at the level of the competitors. For the rest.....

The big problem in general, is that American cars have a build quality very low. Same thing for the handling which is low too. Then a make like Chevrolet which sales Corean cars today (and only these cars in Europe), doesn't mean any more something to me.
Then, there are always some exceptions.

"Best" U.S. car isn't a car. It's a light truck or SUV labeled Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, or Escalade. They're what GM does better than anybody else.

LOL GM SUV's are crap. The pickups are OK, decent workhorses.

The Escalade/Yukon/Tahoe are overpriced and cheaply made soccer-mom mobiles that can't get anywhere near an X5/M Class/RX/Cayenne/Range Rover on the road and neither a Range Rover/Cayenne/Touareg off the road.

The Suburban is in the same boat, but at least it offers you a bit of metal for money.

They do not do SUV's better than anybody else though.

I definitely agree, especially with the escalade which is pure mumsy:redface: . For real suv, buy european or japanese made one

I like the trucks though, coz no one does it better than the american:grinyes:

Best at what?

I prefer GM no matter the application. I beat the crap out of all my vehicles, and the GMs just keep on taking the abuse. And I almost always accelerate at nearly full throttle. I had a Toyota once, died within a year (and I really didn't drive it all that hard) and leaked fluid everywhere since day 3. I rolled my '96 Beretta into a ditch... fliped it back over, got the oil out of the cylinders, and I still drive it to this day. I have gone offroading with it. It's better than offroading with a truck! You don't have to go out of state to find a challenge! A small hill that my truck could idle up in 2wd becomes a huge challenge! I have pulled trailers with it that are twice as heavy as what the V6 version is rated for at 75 MPH for a total of around 1,500 miles, plus hundreds of local miles. My rule of thum is if I can lift the tongue onto the hitch, it'll pull it.

Offroading in my '86 Silverado I have hydro-locked the engine twice (well, technically once was on a flooded street ). It's been flooded, burried in mud, knocked trees down, even had one tree fall on it, it's been hit underneath by rocks, trees and running boards. I've played tug-o-war with other trucks, and have driven at full throttle for half a tank of gas (which isn't really all that far).

I've also got a Grand Am... can't say much about that one yet.

I didn't know Iowa had hillbilly's...

Note to self - NEVER let J-Ri borrow a car for the weekend...

I could see it now, my Z71 comes back spotless. My IROC or Chevelle come back packed full of mud......and with a hitch on it.....

I'm in the same boat for the most part.

I like the SRT-4 (even though they don't make it any more) from the Daimler boys.

I have ALWAYS LOVED Vettes (new ZR-1 = el MOTHERFUCKINGDROOL...) despite being a die hard Nissan guy at heart.

Ford...meh...the GT isn't bad...VERY striking cars in person but too expensive for what it is.

Jeeps are sweet...especially old, beat up, pos, cheap CJs...I'd LOVE one of those but the end all, be all Jeep is BY FAR, HANDS DOWN the new SRT-8...SO bad ass...

420hp, 420tq, 0-60 in under 5 sec...and you can haul lumber in it... (http://www.drivesrt.com/en/jeep_grand_cherokee/index.html)

Not many "American" cars I'd drive, very few I'd buy and actually pay for and this list is about the whole of that.

IMO, anything not made by Chrysler. The new 2008 Focus is impressive though. Still needs a hatchback version to get me to buy one.

We don't have many hillbillys, but there are lots of rednecks, especially in rural areas. Whatever you call it I suppose I am one, in my mind there is a difference, but I can't really put it into words. I guess a hillbilly is an idiot, and a redneck is just a bit crazy :icon16:.

I'm stealing that quote for my signature, it's much better than anything I can think of :)

I think of it as hillbilly and redneck are the same, just redneck is new school verses hillbilly is old school terms...I think of it as redneck is the "trendy" word...or whatever the latest word for trendy is...:grinyes:

That could be, I just think there should be a different meaning for different words. Why have two words that mean the same thing? :) I have been called both, as well as other things.
