Does anyone out there know how to remove the filler hose for the gas tank so that the gromet can be replaced?

drop the tank and pull it straight out. It has to be pulled just right from what I remember.

open fuel filler door, remove three 8mm bolts. put car up on ramps or suspend rear axle by two jackstands. working under the car, remove 4 bolts which hold a rubber bezel onto a large plastic trim piece where the filler neck goes up towards its opening. remove one small bolt holding an eyelet type bracket to the fuel tank lip ------the filler neck goes through this bracket. by now you should be able to grasp the filler neck and rotate it within its fuel tank grommet. lower the gas tank only enough to pull the filler neck out because it extends into the gas tank a good 4 inches or so. for ease of installation of the new grommet, use vaseline and a flat tip screw driver to press it into place. meet the filler neck to its fuel tank hole and raise the fuel tank while rotating/pushing the filler neck back into position.
