Acura is a US only division of Honda. Honda sells all the cars that Acura and Honda sell in the US in Japan, but they just use the Honda name. People in the US dont want to buy luxury cars from a company that sells cheap cars (Civics) so they create a division (Acura, Lexus, etc etc) that sells higher end cars. It seems to work in the US. Example. The Acura Integra in the US in the Honda Integra in Japan. Pop the hood on an Acura sometime and see whose name is on all the parts.

BTW When you buy a Lexus and think you're a high roller just remember they same people designed the Corolla.
