96 Maxima code PO130 again

05-18-2007, 05:09 AM
Quick & to the point, I replaced o2 sensor due to check eng light, and code came up PO130. ( Bank 1) After I replaced the unit the light stayed on until I went back to the auto parts store, were they told me it would go off after 70 some miles ( ya right I thought) So I had him reset the computer. The vehicle runs fine still but the light came back on 3 weeks later after say 1000 miles. I took it back and they searched codes again and it came up PO130 again. Employee told me it might be gas filter, or low fuel pump presurer. I still don't think its the problem, and the car runs fine and no problems. So after he reset again, the light came on 1 week later, I'm pulling my hair out, and wondering if I got a bad o2 sensor. Can someone help. I find it hard to believe it could be a cat converter also.

ECU is a lottery machine, eventually smbdy gets jackpot. As u say, a CAT, no. Possibly just earthly pains? Check pages 10 & 14, see link below.

Stupid question, you did change the right o2 sensor?

That was my first thought, so I returned to the auto parts store and asked them to recheck and show me the correct bank 1 location. It was they said at the front under engine. Thanks, I still don't think it's the ecu like to other guy stated????

Went through this on my wife's Max. Bank 1 is the bank that the odd cylinders are on. On my wife's 01 SE that bank is closest to the firewall. It is entirely possible you (under bad info from autozone) changed the wrong sensor.

Check the harness, they are known to get breaks in them towards the right front ( sitting from drivers seat) Check your voltages at the O2 sensor, If they are all good, possibly bad O2. If no or low voltage is found, Check the harness. Gl :)

p0130 code is for the sensor against the firewall, not at the radiator. sorry dude sounds like you got hosed.
