1998 Trooper Help - serpentine beltjoebobkabila 05-18-2007, 02:49 AM Hello, So it is time to change my serpentine belt on my 1998 trooper. I have two different shop manuals that describe the process of changing the belt out but they aren't very descriptive. Can anyone lead me to a tutorial or a descriptive how-to to change the serpentine belt out? Also if anyone has any tips Id greatly appreciate it. I was quoted a rediculous price from 2 shops to change this out and I am now going to do it myself because of a lack of funds. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! ~waz amigo-2k 05-19-2007, 07:26 PM check the faq's. The belt cost under 20 bucks and takes 5 minutes to change. atfdmike 05-22-2007, 09:40 AM Hi, have not done one on this engine, but you have to relieve the pressure from the belt from the tensioner. It looks like the tensioner pulley has to move down to loosen, so maybe a socket and ratchet on the pulley bolt and tightening direction will loosen the belt without affecting the tensioner. On these belts, getting the new belt on in the correct position is often the worst part. A diagram should help. Getting the belt around the fan and onto the pulleys right is the best place to start in my experience. One guys opinion. http://library.alldatapro.com/alldata/LIB~C32056~R0~OB0~P3R0H~N/0/56775861/62685414/62685439/62685440/34853741/100411974/34853743/34872050/34855136/78343208/78343209 vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
