98 GMC 1500 5.7 litre 350 "throttle body air" AdjustmentMrBillPro 05-17-2007, 08:06 PM I had someone "mechanic" I thought and he may have been, a friend of a friend adjust the air flow little torx looking screw lower left side bottom of the throttle body looking from the front of it, is there really any adjusting to this? he told me it was supposed to be adjusted to just were the baffle or butterfly inside the throttle body rests against the inside area of the throttle body. He said if its not adjusted right the butterfly will stick or hang on the side wall inside of it. Hey I am clueless I thought there was not any adjustment to the air flow that the air flow at idle was supposed to be going through the little hole in the butterfly plate or controlled by the computer and that seem logical to me but hey I don't know just using common sense. I guess my question would be is there any amount of turns or is there really "any" adjustment at all for air flow? Regalwhiskey 05-22-2007, 06:23 AM I've never seen it, but it sounds to me like this is a side to side adjustment of the throttle plate and shaft. It wouldn't adjust airflow, but it prevents binding. maxwedge 05-22-2007, 08:57 AM This is the base idle setting from the factory and should not be changed, no reason to, the iac adjusts the air for proper idle speed, this adjustment that was done will change the tps inputs also, get it back where it was. If the set screw was adjusted before back too far, it could cause the throttle to bind in the bore, but no one should be playing with it. MrBillPro 05-22-2007, 09:44 AM get it back where it was. I understand but what if it was moved how do you know were it was? I guess that was my question there must be some sort of factory setting on this somewhere, or someone that knows about were it should be. maxwedge 05-22-2007, 12:09 PM Yes with the iac backed all the way down should be about 450 rpms. Thanks I appreciate that. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l286/mrbillpro/cool1.gif vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
