Anyone replace the Oil Pressure sensor?C5Longhorn 05-16-2007, 08:07 PM I have a '99 2wd Blazer with 104K. I think my oil pressure sensor is going bad. I'm having intermitten problems with it. Has anyone replaced this? It looks like a fairly simple job. Any special parts involved? The shop manual talks about a special socket. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks, old_master 05-16-2007, 09:57 PM Yes, it takes a special socket. When you go to the parts store, get the socket that fits the new sending unit. There are two different size sockets. Having the right tools makes the job much easier. C5Longhorn 05-16-2007, 11:09 PM The problem I'm having is the pressure will drop at idle to almost 0 and then increase with acceleration to around 40. I'm not sure if I have a more serious problem or a gauge going out. I guess what concerns me is that if the gauge was going bad, wouldn't it just stay at zero or completely die. My gauge is moving around depending on the temperature, stop and go traffic, etc. Sparky1349 05-17-2007, 10:01 AM The problem I'm having is the pressure will drop at idle to almost 0 and then increase with acceleration to around 40. Can't always trust the electrical gauges and senders. My nephews truck the gauge was all over the place, when I put a mechanical gauge on it found out the it only had 5 psi at idle. That motor was shot from pulling too many trailers. joeyd50 06-07-2007, 08:32 PM I have a 1992 4.3 V6, and the oil gauge is pined at the top, I can't even find the oil pressure switch. Any help please. I know this is a dumb question but I can't find it.
