For those of you who said no, it was probably not the computer for my Rodeo even though the dealership said I did... You were RIGHT! We went to autozone when the CEL came on and the code reader said we needed a MAF sensor....(we installed that weeks ago), then the guy at autozone said , "This code could be fror 2 different parts..." So we got the other part which was a VAF something. He reset the code and we have been keeping our fingers crossed and after 500+ more miles on the car, it is still running great. No more reving at stop lights or stalling, no more stalling everytime I slowed down or for that matter rpms jumping up to 4,000 plus everytime I had to apply the breaks and clutch. Sounding like it was gonna blow up! A simple $30.00 part, folks! If any of you experience this problem it is not the intake manifold gasket or fuel pump or a $900 computer part....Whew! So be aware that before you keep getting the same code for a Mass Air Flow sensor...that it could be a VAF (vacuume air flow?) I'm not sure what the initials are for, but I'm glad I can love my Rodeo again.:)

Any chance you can take a picture of the part? Kinda curious to know what it was. The receipt, maybe?

It is a 98 Rodeo...I will gather as much info on that part as I can. My husband has the receipt. He says he thinks it is a valve air control mechanism I can take a pic of it as well, so keep looking back at this thread periodically for the next day or two. It could save alot of aggravation and $ for alot of ppl so I will get this to ya'll as fast as I can.

Sounds like the idle air control valve or IAC.

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/C:\Documents and Settings\HP_Administrator\My Documents\My Pictures\5-17-2007(1)I do not know how to attach images on this board. I tried to attach the pics with the part in it, but do not think it will work. I do not have a link to a website either. Sorry... If someone would kindly tell me how I will or I can send the pics to someones email then they can do it. It really did say a VAF not an (I)dle (A)ir (C)ontrol. I believe we installed an Idle air awhile back.
