1992 Isuzu Rodeo on Ebay $250NR (1 day left)RodeoONebay$250NR! 05-12-2007, 02:38 PM http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300109078374 This Rodeo is in excellent condition other than a rod that is knocking. It is still drivable, but there is no telling hold long it will hold. Good Luck! :2cents: RodeoONebay$250NR! 05-12-2007, 02:56 PM I added 3 days because 1 day left may not be enough for everyone here to talk it over with their spouses. :grinyes: surferfletch 05-12-2007, 04:05 PM Rod knock or just the timing belt tensioner giving up? Ramblin Fever 05-12-2007, 08:33 PM Surfer - the '92 Rodeo's had the GM 3.1L engine, not sure if the timing belt tensioner was an issue on that year, I know it never was on my '91 Rodeo in over 150k miles. Doesn't mean that it can't sound like a rod knocking though, actually, in fact, the 3.1L GM engine had a timing CHAIN which could sound very much like a rod knock with age. Ramblin Fever 05-12-2007, 08:36 PM Boy, that's a shame to only have had 96k miles and the engine's already shot. After actually reading the information, the rod knock developed after overheating, so yes, the engine probably is fried. Too bad, that engine could've easily put out 200k miles + surferfletch 05-12-2007, 10:04 PM Thanks - didn't know the 3.1L had a chain. Cat Fuzz 05-12-2007, 10:37 PM Yep, the GM 3.1 is a pushrod engine. That V-6 has been around for ages. Still using them today in a slightly redesigned form. 2000izusu 05-13-2007, 09:02 AM it is sad, that motor is good as ramblin said for north of 200,000 miles. i've seen a couple examples with 300,000 plus. i guess you have to keep oil and water in them to get high mileage. thats what happens when you don't watch your vehicle like the people of this forum do. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
