F1 GT Longtail modeltk_f1627bhp 05-11-2007, 07:29 PM Hi all, ive just added my 4th 1:18 McLaren to my collection, A beautiful UT Models black GT Longtail. The model is great but i wondered if anyone knew the answer to a question: What car is it? UT call it a GTR "street car", however, it has the rear wing, which i thought was absent on the GT roadcars. Theres a small shot in Driving Ambition of the all-black Longtail GTR prototype which looks very similar to the model. Does anyone have any other photos of the car? Thanks for any info, http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tk_f1627bhp/SV100228.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z199/tk_f1627bhp/SV100003.jpg hurstg01 05-12-2007, 04:51 AM You have a good collection in there, just needs more models!! ;) The GT didn't have the rear wing as you rightly state. Sami Aaltonen 12-15-2008, 06:50 AM You have a nice collection! Really! Perfect! I think that this thread would be right place to ask this, is there any good quality scale models available? Minichamps and IXO Models have made very good scale models, quality is high and the price is reasonable. But is there any else manufacturer, which have a good high quality, model scale 1/43 or 1/18 and metalic models? Of course any else scale is fine, if there is something reasonable price available. Speciality I'm looking for a good quality 1/43 or 1/18 Orange LM and of course 1995,1996 and 1997 GTR's. Gulf, Harrolds and Fina colors. I have found that there is some kind of LM available, but... This is red and I think pure GTR. But anywhere isn't any information about this "Red one GTR prototype"....... But is this the closest than I can these days get when reaching LM on to my glass cabinet?! http://www.ixomodels.com/app/webroot/img/userdata/10/91-101.jpg I would be very greatfull to get information of this subject! Peloton25 12-15-2008, 12:04 PM The model is really a car that didn't exist. There were no street versions of the F1 GT fitted with a roll cage and a racing interior and a rear wing. UT probably didn't want to tool up a nice interior for a one car release. The normal UT F1 road car interior doesn't fit inside this body which is silly because in real life they would be interchangable as that section of the chassis was not altered on the longtails. If anything, they should have at least left out the rear wing and put blanking plates in the slots where it is fitted to the body. Anyway, not a real McLaren, or at least not as they are representing it. >8^) ER Sami Aaltonen 12-15-2008, 02:50 PM Okey, you mean that Prototype GTR, the Red one? Nice to know this fact! I have always wondered that what is that Red one prototype. Always there has been that LM and suddenly the "GTR PROTOTYPE". All this time since 1995 there haven't been enywhere any shots of that car, so this really wondered me. I thought that must be somekind of "one car proto", which has allready destroyed or something and that's why there is noting information left anymore. So thanks for infromation! BUT, is there anymore available a scale model of the LM?! Orange or black...? carbuilder2002 12-15-2008, 03:49 PM Red one is actually a model of 10R currently owned by Nick Mason yes it was the prototype for the 1996 GTR's ExoticSpotting 12-15-2008, 09:16 PM Okey, you mean that Prototype GTR, the Red one? Nice to know this fact! I have always wondered that what is that Red one prototype. Yes, thats #10R, I think you mean this model (http://cgi.ebay.com/McLaren-F1-GTR-LeMans-Prototype-1995-1-43-IXO-Model_W0QQitemZ270316215453QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDiec ast_Vehicles?hash=item270316215453&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50). BUT, is there anymore available a scale model of the LM?! Orange or black...? Not that i'm aware. You have to be careful searching for an LM model, the sellers add every model in the title to attract as many buyers as they can. Example: 1:18 Mclaren F1 GTR harrods GT LM 1996 Sami Aaltonen 12-16-2008, 08:38 AM Ok thanks for the information! So the red one prototype is real car, not unreal. So I have to consider to buy that scale model if I just find one some day. Another question: I have seen many pics of this Orange Lontail GTR. Is it a road legal version or what is it really? I believe that it's road legal because the register plate on the front.... And of course there is a scale model by IXO Models also available.... I just want to know; is that Orange Longtail GTR ex-racer or what is it? It must be something important, because they had done the scale model in it...? http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/2d/McLaren_F1_GTR.jpg/250px-McLaren_F1_GTR.jpg hurstg01 12-16-2008, 01:15 PM It's #27R; it used to race over here in England for a while and was owned by an accountant [along with a road car] called James Munroe. He was a crook who took money from the company he worked for to provide him with the lifestyle he wanted ie racing Mclarens. The car was auctioned after his conviction and was eventually bought by one of the owners of Cars International Kensington, who has used the registration plate CIA4 on the Mclaren for display purposes (you probably saw a picture of it on the laen at Goodwood house) but it's most certainly not road legal. If there any gaps in its timeline I am sure someone else can fill them for you :) mini magic 12-16-2008, 01:54 PM According to what i was told when i saw it a few years ago, 027R should be road legal by now Sami Aaltonen 12-16-2008, 02:03 PM Okey, nice to know this! Strange that they had done it also a scale model, the Orange Lontail. Maybe some accidence, but I still think should I buy one on the glass gabinet. I found a locall speciality store this one today: (I think it was this) http://i15.ebayimg.com/05/i/000/ce/20/3d37_10.JPG The price tag was a bit....expensive...89e for a blastic model. I have to think it. I think that is the one and almoust only LM McLaren F1, what you can easily find today. Ofcourse, its a radio control-car, so there is no interior, but the body work was quite OK, I immediately regonized it to the LM version. But the details wasn't so good that I would hoped.... What is your oppinnion about this? Is it worth to have one in the glass cabinet? Or should I forget it immediately? My opinion is that OKEY, there is noting value if compare exp. Minichamps or IXO Models, but it's still a LM, immediately regonise it LM version, difficult to find one..... but....the detail quality..... :uhoh: Sami Aaltonen 12-17-2008, 06:33 AM I've made my decision and I ordered this one: http://www.ixomodels.com/index.php/car/popup/1056 I think this one is very stylish and simple and the details should be seen very well. And the color is perfect, even that this isn't LM or anything like that. And next one I think is the Redone GTR "Proto" some part of next year, and the Gulf Lontails and the.....:uhoh: ExoticSpotting 12-19-2008, 11:44 AM Since were on the topic of recent purchases... 1:43 McLaren F1 GTR Race Version Silver LM (http://cgi.ebay.com/1-43-IXO-Mclaren-F1-GTR-Race-Version-Silver-LM_W0QQitemZ120320825707QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDiecast _Vehicles?hash=item120320825707&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1205%7C66%3A4%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C 240%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A2%7C294%3A200) Another 'road version' GTR, but I really like the color and the detail. Maybe it'll get put back up for auction. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
