Here is my second build for AF 60th anyversary

Bought this one because I couldn't wait for Fujimi and judgeing from the pictures I should have waited .
But I will try to do my best to make it look at least like something.

Body is sanded first then I fitted front hood that was not fitting well (panels were not same all the way) and glued "c" pilars which go to deep compareing to roof line and have terible holes where they meet the fenders (every one who has Revell kit know what I am talking about )

So everything was fittet, putied and reprimed just to find terible dent in front hood, so putty again and reprimeing.

Then I sanded all with CM's sanding sticks and applyed 5-6 coats of Hiroboy's fabulous Zero Ferrari black.

Now this is how it all looks, sorry for not takeing more pictures of process, I was lazy

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P5091249.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P5091251.jpg

And now I am in dilema, since we all know how bad Revell wheels are, i will not spend the words on them.
But I have dilema, which ones + Pegasus sleeves (wheels in jet exhaust from Alclad)?

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P5091254.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P5091255.jpg

meanwhile I applyed clear coat, I used laquer ready to use from Hiroboy and it is realy good, a little polishing and it will be fantastic.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P5111309.jpg

Now of to chasis/interior it will be red/carbon combo.

hey lazy guy LOL it seem fantastic but not with both those rims, they're speaking japanese! I'm using the 5 spokes Ztune rims(and tyres) on my 360 and they're fantastic and "5 spoke ferrarist", and more they allow to see a lot of carboceramic stuff under: they sell also as aftermarket goods (w/out wheels but I guess pegasus rubbers should be oki)

I also bought the ready clear laquer from Steve, cant wait to have in hand and try (there's an orange gallardo waiting for it ;) )

edit: forgot: how a romantic guy that shoot his lovely cleared girl under the sunshine!!! LOL

Great work on the paint... one could fall in love with those dawn pics.
Rims are your rightful choice in the end but to me they seem a little out of concept, perhaps too japanese as said before.

Hi Sasa,

you sure have a nice and empty parking lot in front of your house. Maybe you should collect 1:1 cars ;-)

Nice paint BTW...should look beautiful once polished!

Sorry Tang, my face in the early dawn errrrr, i don't think so :D
I promise Monday, I realy do :D
Rodrigo and Gio you got me thinking now, darn, to many choices :D, must dig through scrap box, maybe I will find something, but I am just waiting for the sleeves then I can mesure.
Isn't it nice to live in a building that has so much place to park the cars :D
Thanks Rob ;)
Now I remembered what do you guys think about something like this in red sleeves, I have F50 in scrap box.

In the mean time I made chassis to see the fit of the wheels and just a reminder for all of you that will start this kit, watch out for ride hight, it is way to high and try to remake it before you glue everything on the chasis because once instaled it is realy hard to change it.

I'll try mine, and I would like to heard something from Steve (the UK one, ok the really UK one LOL) about this laquer, expected performance over time (go yellow?) and so.

Superb shine Sasa.

I'll try mine, and I would like to heard something from Steve (the UK one, ok the really UK one LOL) about this laquer, expected performance over time (go yellow?) and so.

Few things I could say about this one compared to 2K one.

1. this one is much easier to apply
2. this one is tricky when applying easily, overspray is very sticky and dries instantly so you have to be carefull with mist coats.
3. shine with this one is almost instant and even if you don't polish it, it will look good (so excelent for begginers)
4. 2K is harder
5. 2K gives deaper shine
6. 2K is more forgiving with bigger grit at sanding

I didn't try this one on decals so can't realy comment on that but I will try it with some CF just to be sure, I think that this one will be excelent for smaller parts and CF parts but I think I will stick to 2K for bodies or if I will be lazy I will use this one

I finaly got time to test the wheels again, two that went into finals are shown here.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P5191403.jpg

In the end I decided for this ones, painted with Alclat jet exhaust.

One big thank you to Steve aka Hiroboy for providing Pegasus sleeves

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P5211411.jpg

Then I worked on chassis and interior parts a bit.
Interior will be red/carbon combo, since it is realy hard to get good looking red seats I decided to try preshadeing technique before I put red paint on, this is how it looks before red paint.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P5211413.jpg

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P5211416.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P5211417.jpg

Chassis is simply painted with flat black, Alu parts are prepared with alclad and will be drybrushed with Aluminium when I fit the wheels.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P5211414.jpg

For the end just the picture of brakes that I will use, as you know Revell ones are.......disaster :D

Thanks for looking

How did you convert the wheel connection?

With a lot of chop and glue thing :D Since Revell made it look more like Jeep if you use actual axles I cutted those pins compleatly, made new holes, inserted plastic tubes and I will fix the wheels still ( I don't like turning wheels)

I decided to spice this build up a little bit so I will add Fujimi's 599 to this build.

As Tang explained in his review Fujimi realy look better in many thing despite the lack of engine.
The thing that impressed me the most is the shine of Fujimi plastick, just look at that, I was tempted not to paint it :D

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P6201607.jpg

Problem is in mold lines so after I attached side skirts and C pillars I have sanded everything, first with 500 then with 1000 to have this.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P6201610.jpg

And again I played with wheels a bit more :D

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P6211618.jpg
not bad in blue either

Fujimi with wheels intended for Revell
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P6211638.jpg

Fujimi will be red, with OZ Superturismo in Pegasus sleeves, everything painted in Alclad polished aluminium.
That's it for now, thanks for watching ;)

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P7022983.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P7022985.jpg

I also started with carbon fibering the interior parts.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P6302939.jpg

Wheels ready (compare the size of Fujimi stock wheels, they are huge)

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P6221641.jpg

And then, I left the body on the balcony, weather was perfect, body was in the box, on the table, box open, wind started, I rushed to the balcony and there it was, flying 599 body slaming in to wall and on to the floor.

Here are the damages, allready covered with white putty

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P7032995.jpg
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P7032996.jpg

Strangest thing is that rear view mirrors are fine, most of the corners are fine, only big hit was with rear end.
Now I will see will I be able to save it or brake fluid and all over again.

BBS DTM from Calibra in Pegasus sleeves

Fujimi - body, wheels, lights, windows, central console, seats (allthou wrong design)

Revell - dash board, engine

If I didn't have any Fujimi would be first choice by miles for me to

Interior mostly done (except the dash board), nothing fancy realy, some texture on carpet parts but like I said before red is terrible to photo.

I have redone central console also, this is one major mistake from Revell, they realy did it terible, wrong buttons all over, so I driled holes and replaced them with plastic rods, not accurate but lot better. Fujimi did this much better.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P7083018.jpg

And dryfit of interior, one remark, instruction suggest gluing uper part of dash to the body and then dash to that uper part, but side panels are little bit narow and if you try it this way you could brake something, so much better solution is to glue upper part to the body and dash to the interior and then put body on chasis.

First you need something like this

http://www.hiroboy.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=48_62&products_id=440

then it is all up to you, patience is everything, I spent two hours on sanding under water. Regular papers will work to but you must be much more carefull.

So, at last, you was wawed, I see, ROFL

Really Sasa you're still marvelling me: you're great with planes (much more than w cars LOL J/K) this russian little cab (why you didn't "maskolled" the glass and painted togheter?) and the '104 are gems: I'm a kinda '104 lover, I own one in 1/32 with a kilos of Eduard PE.... for my pension.. . Well your '104 with all those Alclad shades is awesome, and the weathering on the russian plane too (oil?).

The pony: great job, on the engine simply I can't digest those wrong revell radiator cover. Also if I were in your shose I would replace those discs, if you want I have a ton of enzo casted 1 side discs. Superb job on the engine with heat shields and wiring, BRAVO!

Ahh, call me lazy, I forgot to put the windshield on Polikarpov until it was to late, anyhow I did it in three days :D, wash and weathering with MM enemals and various preshades and post shades, I really enjoy playing with that.
I am planing to make all red Italian 104 with 999 logo some day, I also like 1/32 but Hase 1/32 104 is not as good as 1/48.
As for the discs they are PE ones from Mr. Model, they are only a bit to small but other then that they don't look that bad.

You will have hard time fitting Fujimi tires on anything since they are huge and rear ones are much larger then front ones (trust me I never saw this huge wheels in a car kit).
Better option is to take both wheels and tires from someone or leave stock ones, or cut out hearts from stock one and redo do them with other hearts....hmm a lot of work there
Centers are from Sakatsu.

Tang this car just cries out to be evil, i think I will buy one more and do something really sick with it :evillol:

Thin wire is from Sakatsu (0,28) and thick one is isolator from regular "buy it anywhere" cord. When you pull out thin brass wires from inside of isolator you have exact fit for Sakatsu wire in it.

Exhausts, unpainted, replaced tail pipes (on left one)

Meshes replaced with real iron fabric and all in place, still missing rear view mirrors, body details and a good wax treatment.
Finished pictures when I finish red one

Oh yes, if someone has rear diffuser (part number 72) I would be very grateful since I warped mine beyond repair.

Hi Sasa,

overall impression is very good, the dark wash on the red is IMO a little bit heavy, but inside the car it will look a little bit more contrasting when finished.

I agree with you, if the rings on the wheels would come in different sizes (depth), it would be great for people like you and me, who donīt possess a lathe

Thanks Tang.
So front ones, Sakatsu lens in electrical connector (the ones Stevenski also uses, you can see bigger ones being used for tail pipes), then I dremeled that smaller part for blinker (to make it dent and not flat), BMF+clear orange and drilled lens part and inserted that electronic connector with lens inside.

Rear ones, I saw of part of the clear tree, polished it and flattened from one side and drilled from other (for reverse light), then filled that hole with chrome silver, outer part of that clear rod in clear orange and biggest ring in clear red, BMF at the back of everything and thats it.

By the way I resolved rear diffuser with a big help from my modeling friend Mario.
Thank you Mario ;)

I have had a bit of the problem with KA metal transfers, they just wouldn't get of the carrier film. Am I doing something wrong?

Did you use multiple pieces of carbon fiber decal on the dash? I'm still trying to figure out to best cover this dash in CF.

It sure is, I have tryed to do it in one piece but it won't go.
So side vents are small pieces and middle part is devided in three parts (flat part in front of co driver, middle vents and part in front of driver. One more part is required for front of the middle vents, lot of work to get it right and of course I messed CF lines on right vent and middle part :D

Tang that picture is my favorite to ;)

By the way I would say that Revell dash is much better.

Now of to those adorable KA Daytona seats :D

More work on interior.

KA seats, they are really nice, as well as the CF decals.

I am not happy with how it came out, I simply didn't try hard enough :(

KA discs, fit is, hmmm, extremely tight :D

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/IMG_1727.jpg

Fit of the wheels with discs on on the other hand is not good as you can see, wheels just stick out to much, I will have to repair this.

After a long good thought I decided to go with sporting seat belts rather then regular ones.

I ditched supplied plastic bags belts and replaced them with spare tire belts for rally cars, working tensioner of course :D

SRC shoulder pads and buckles and S27 material.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/sjelic/P9053988.jpg

Wheels received adorable KA discs and calipers, they are truly masterpiece. Mounted them on proxxon and gave them a spin while carefully sanding the surface first with 500 grit and then with 1500 grit paper, they look real now, to bad those Superturismo wheels are so closed.

interior looks great. Red seat belts on black interior makes an interesting difference. Body finish is fantastic !!

Hi Sasa,
About the interior you wrote "I am not happy with how it came out, ... ". Why not? Where do you see space for improvements?

CF not a s good as it could be (also to thick clear coat on it), detail painting not as sharp as I would like, vents not replaced (I hate you Tang :crying:  ), painting not a clean as it could/should be, but I must say that belts really made the difference.

Oh my!:eek2: :worshippy That lady made me have a maggot in my head! Fantastic shine! And the interior looks superb too! Very much like a race car with the 4 point seatbelts and the luggage belts. Great works as usual Mister!

And dont hate me buddy, that's just a vent, your driver will need no cooling when he sits there, all he has to do is pushing the accelerograph to the end! I have to thank you again buddy, your fabulous work really gave me much encouragement and motivation to start mine!:smooch:  :worshippy

09-06-2007, 11:12 AM
No problem Sasa~ I guess that's because they didn't employ gio, Crazy Modeler also provides useless vent, I saw only gio's homemade vent fits perfectly the housing.:grinyes:

Darn macro  Those metal transfers really gave me some trouble, I don't know is it me not knowing how to use them or something else.
Carrier film is so sticky that you can't get them of and once you do they are so sticky on all the wrong places :screwy:
