Anytime the car is running the headlights are on, even if its high noon and not a cloud in the sky. Is this a safety thing or is there a sensor somewhere that went bad? Thanks for any replys!

It would help to post year and model Grand Prix.

There is daytime running lights aka DRL which mean the headlamps will be on at a lower intensity during the daytime. This is a safety feature. At nightime the dash sensor detects low light conditions/darkness and then turns the head lamps on but at regular intensity via the automatic headlight system.

.

Its a 97 gt. I found that if you put the parking brake on just one click the headlights wont come on, but then you have to put up with the red warning light for the p brake on the dash.

So what is your issue? Do you plan on disabling the DRL or auto headlight system?

Here is a procedure to disable the DRL.

Also, you can remove the DRL fuse but that will prevent the auto headlamp system from working via the sensor but you will have full manual control by using the head light switch manually just like cars without this feature.
