2003 ,4runner, have problems with ABSsports32mx 05-10-2007, 02:52 AM Hi, I have a 2003 4 runner, it runs just perfect but after a mile, it starts to brake, untill it stops completely (I have to open the bleeder to release the pressure on the brake pads), I have already tried with another ABS system, and it does the same, I changed the ABS module that goes near the brake pedal with no luck at all. there is no warning light, until it stops. then VSC TRACK and ABS ligths goes ON, once I release the presure, both lights goes OFF. Hi, Same size, all 4 tires, I have noticed that the electric pump on the ABS system, works almost continuously (on both ABS systems the old and the new). thanks Brian Brian R. 05-11-2007, 03:02 AM What was changed on the old ABS system to give you the "new" system? Just the ABS module? Does your truck have a down hill assist system? sports32mx 05-13-2007, 12:16 AM What was changed on the old ABS system to give you the "new" system? Just the ABS module? Does your truck have a down hill assist system? I Changed the complete ABS system, from another 2003 4runner. All the toyota 4runner 2003 comes with the DHA(down hill assist system). Brian R. 05-13-2007, 01:01 AM You haven't told me anything that gives me a real idea on what might be the culprit. It sounds like something that is bad in the center of the system. like a control module or down hill assist sensor or computer. Unless someone here knows what may be going on, I suggest you allow Toyota to troubleshoot it. Unfortunately, I don't have access to information on your braking system.
