i bought a 95 monte carlo LS a few months ago and recently was involved in a wreck and after making all of the repairs i thought were necassary i took the car for a test drive but the speedometer didnt work and it wouldnt shift gears above first. and i was told that it might be the speed sensor. unfortunetly i am not really familiar with it so don't know what it is i'm looking for. i'm hoping thats whats wrong and nothing with the transmission. can anybody give me advice

The vehicle speed sensor is in the top of the transaxle near where the passenger side axle is. It should have a 2-wire connector. Look from the passenger side, just behind and below the engine, and you should be able to see the plug.
