bent rimKrazyBlasian 05-08-2007, 10:19 AM approx 3 months ago my front passenger rim got bent and there was a bad vibration. and i talked to a mechanic and he said it would be ok to put that rim on the back. so now its on the back driver side. i needed a quick solution cuz i didnt have funds to buy anything because i was in the middle of a move. but today on my way to work theres a rattleing noise coming from the rear driver side. do you think it may be from that rim? or what would it be. its real nasty sounding 240SX_89 05-08-2007, 01:42 PM My rim on my galant was bent also. I took it to my mechanic and all he did was take off the tire and bend it back with a hammer. Or you could go to the junk yard and buy a used rim. 240SXSlideStar 05-08-2007, 06:16 PM You can't bend back mags, you can only do that with steelies. To fix a mag, you need to bring it to a mag repair place. The rattling isn't from the rim, take the wheel off and poke around, I'm sure you'll find something loose if the noise is that bad. slideways... 05-08-2007, 09:05 PM #1 i doubt he has mag rims. mag rims cost a LOT. #2 you can bend back cast aluminum, but carefully because they do crack. forged aluminum alloy also can be bent but i wouldnt, because its so hard that it probably will crack. KrazyBlasian 05-08-2007, 09:51 PM well fellas i found out what it was. it was my muffler. theres like a metal sheet that surrounds it and i saw it hangin there and vibrating against the rest of the muffler making the noise. so im guessing i need to get a new muffler. any ideas of good mufflers? but nothing like a fart can. i hate those. KrazyBlasian 05-08-2007, 09:52 PM oh and thanks for all the help with the whole rim thing. i still need to get that fixed 240SXSlideStar 05-09-2007, 12:40 AM OEM or full catback from a decent company. Chuki_breath 05-11-2007, 08:30 PM im guessing it was the heatshield? Just take that crap off.......there's one on the stock exhaust manifold too. Those tend to rattle loose after a while. as for the rim take it to a rim repair shop, it may cost some cash but they usually do a "like new job" if your that worried about it. I just bent two wheels(5zigen's) on my scion, popped the damn tires, took a block of wood and hammer to them and made it look a little better. They still hold air so its all good. Cant expect to much from daily driven wheels. I guess it depends on how bad of a "bend" you put on the rim. I just bent the lip. But if your whole wheel is warped well then i can see why its making noise. also since you bent the rim, im assuming you hit something fairly decent sized. Maybe check your alignment and/or look at your suspension maybe you bent or tweaked a suspension arm. slideways... 05-12-2007, 10:04 AM you dont want a fart can? get a RSR exmag I. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
