Hi. I own a 1991 Grand Prix. It has been stored in the garage since mid April and all of a sudden today the garage reeks of gasoline. The fuel tank is making a strange swooshing/sloshing noise like the sound of air bubbles, or like a stomach gurgling, occurring every 3-5 seconds. Also, I opened and shut the car door and the noise delayed longer than usual and did not sound until about 8-10 seconds later. There are no leaks as far as I can tell.

Does anyone know any problems that could be associated with this noise?

Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

the gas tank vent valve may be stuck shut. SLOWLY remove the gas cap in a well ventilated area (no sparke or open flames) and see if pressure has built up in the tank. Now that the weather is getting warmer, the gas is expanding and most likely causing the noise.
