00 Rodeo 'chugging' at low speeds - confused!!!bsanga 05-07-2007, 10:23 PM Hi, I'm new to Isuzu's and purchased a 2000 V6 4WD Rodeo two weeks ago AND I LOVE THIS FORUM! it's helped me out so much!!! I've encountered a problem that I think I have read the answer to, but need some clarification. today when leaving work I noticed that in the parking lot the truck was 'chugging' a bit, like it wasn't getting enough fuel or a consistent supply. This only happens at low speeds (under 40km/h. . .yea I'm Canadian eh. . . ) I noticed that if I accelerated quickly off a stop that it would be fine. But everytime I would come to a complete stop and then slowly take off, the truck would accelerate/almost die/ accelerate/almost die/etc I picked up a fuel sending unit last week and was going to change it as soon as this tank of gas runs out (or near that since I don't know when it will run out). It seems like a fuel related issue. but reading faq 5 makes me think its the intake gasket. BUT IGM was changed a year ago by the previous owner (records to prove). Also when I got home and let the truck pull up the driveway on its own, it died. I did this again 10 mins ago and it die again. I would love to do a complete overhaul on this motor. But I just don't have the time. some things I read makes me think its maybe EGR needs cleaning, I think its fuel related, maybe tranny needs a flush. I just don't know and I really don't have time to do everything right now. Has anyone ever experienced a chugging from a slow acceleration from a stand still? thoughts? amigo-2k 05-07-2007, 10:28 PM Start with cleaning the egr, egr tube and the PCV. The 2 times my intake manifold gasket went bad the RPM would bounce about 50-75 RPM while I was at a Stop sign or a red light. bsanga 05-08-2007, 08:10 PM I just finished cleaning the EGR, and now when I start the truck its fine, but then when I put it in drive the check engine light comes on with the REDUCED POWER light. and I have no go!!! this isnt what I expected!!! I've done some research, and am going to try a couple things, but has anyone had this happen RIGHT AFTER cleaning the EGR???? PLEASE HELP! bsanga 05-08-2007, 09:27 PM well I drove the truck around for a while and it was still on, I unplugged the EGR while the truck was still on and then I shut it off and plugged it back in. . . AND IT'S FINE!!! but I still get the chugging/hesistation AND its slightly worse now. does it at higher speeds now too! when I come to a stop the RPMs do idle rough so maybe it is a IMG? surferfletch 05-08-2007, 10:56 PM Ignition related? Plugs, coil pack? Pull the plugs and see if any are fouled. amigo-2k 05-08-2007, 11:38 PM did you clean the egr tube too? bsanga 05-09-2007, 09:38 PM yes, I cleaned the tube as well. I cleaned everything again today since yesterdaydidn't spray from the TB side. Maybe it's because I'm not using a good enough carb cleaner. I gotta find some of this BG stuff. do you guys use the intake cleaner (406) or carb cleaner (411 or 412)? more weird stuff that happened today after I cleaned everything again. - let the truck run for about 15mins when I got in and shut the door, the car died! started it up and opened the door shut it again, it died!!! - truck drove fine, when I came to stops and took off there was no chugging BUT THEN I came to an abrupt stop and the truck died. started it up and the chuggin was back! I have no idea what is going on with this truck lol vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
