How bad is it?

Ok so I drive a 2003 grand am, and latly ive been shifting my car through the 1,2,3 gears like its a standard just cause its more fun but im wondering if that is gonna hurt my car at all?

Its a little harder on the transmission if you let your engine get up to higher RPM's before shifting.

Unless you need to hold it in a lower gear to eliminate the downshift time or if you're right where it shifts and it's shifting back and forth constantly, just leave it in drive or overdrive. The computer knows exactly where to shift for maximum fuel economy. Never downshift to slow down with an automatic, it will shorten the life considerably... and replacing the clutches and bands in an automatic is much more costly than replacing the clutch in a manual.
