I will wait for final judgement until I actually see the car in person, but it does look a lot better in BMW's new bmwfilms.com movie with clive owen called hostage.

I first thought miss, but it grew on me and now I'm leaning towards hit.

It looked good in the movie, but I saw one yesterday and they are SMALL like the Z3. I almosty ran over it with my Suburban...

I first thought hit, but i saw a road test on TV and the front didn't appeal to me as much as it does in pictures. I like the back a lot though.

I havent seen one in the flesh, which is when i will make a final decision on the looks, but on the telly it looked significantly bigger than the Z3 :confused:

I love it. Much better looking than the Z3. Hope is not too small though. I guess i'll wait till i see one in person.

The Z4 styling cues are great, but it just needs some extra room in between the occupants and the cars around it. I wouldn't want to be in an accident in a Z4... and with the way people drive around here:eek:

Its a shame theyre not making an M version of the Z4... i would have liked to see a meaner looking Z4 and of course performance to echo the Z3M's, which was a rocket.... :flash:

I say hit. I think it's beautiful. A roadster is far more susceptible to outrageous designs like 'flame surfacing' than a regular saloon.

I agree. Flame surfacing has a lot of potential. People who criticise it are boring, conventional b*stards

It looks a lot better in real life than it does on any picture. When I first looked at a picture from the Z4, I thought that there was something seriously wrong with the nose. Now that I've seen it irl, I really like it.

I still havent seen it in the flesh, i dont know when it goes on sale in the UK

i have driven the 2.5 with hardtop already... because my dad works for webasto.. they produce the hardtop!.

and believe me it looks so good!!!

I saw the Z4 in person yesterday. It is truly a lot nicer in the flesh than in pics. I sat in it and it has simple but nice interior. It is also less expensive than a lot of BMW's other sports cars. For around $35k, you are getting a true BWW sports car.

I got to see one and sit in it one at a local autoshow. Its a nice car and I wouldn't mind owning one but I doubt I will.

I have driven the Z4 several times and it is a very nice car if you are looking for a sporty 2 seater convertible. You have to get the larger motor though because the other one is pretty BLAH! In regards to an M version of it I think it will be a 2004 from what I heard.

well i dont know where you heard what you heard but BMW has said there will be no M version of the Z4... i personally think they will make one, but if theyre saying they wont you cant be too sure, especially not sure enough to set a date... so whats your source?

My know alot of people who work at the local BMW dealer. They are all addicted to the cars and said that they were going to a training at BMW headquarters in April. They said they heard some noise about a new M roadster Z4

Well, let me add another one then! :D

Maybe it'll grow on me eventually, like their latest 7-series - now I can actually look at it without cringing! But for the moment it looks too cute and pretty and at the same time not balanced looks-wise.

Have you seen BMW's award-winning new style of advertising? theyve made short films which are played in cinemas before the main feature... i saw one yesterday, it had a Z4 in it and goddamn it looked stunning... i think you'll change your mind about this one very quickly... i know i did :D

The first time I saw that car was in Automobile Magazine, they showed a front shot and I did not like it. Something about those angled lines looked strange. But then I saw it on TV for those BMW films and i was "Wow, it is not and ugly car" so then I went to the dealer to get a brochure and I saw it in person and completely fell in love with the design. I love the front end "kidney grill" with those blades, and the headlights I also like. They don't have that "angry" look like the S2000 and the IS300 and even the new 5 series. The car has a lot of refreshing lines that I have never seen in an automobile. But if you look closely it is authentic BMW design. Those sharp lines on top of the front and rear fenders, they remind me of my '75 2002. This bold new design makes other new cars look rather bland. I would buy this car even if it had a 4 cylinder engine.:cool:

I've just had a sneak preview (up close, in person) of the new Z4 and the bodykitted Z4 german spec with a hardtop. It is beautiful, the rear spoiler is a bit over the top but everything else is sweet!!I saw a pre-production model but it was still top quality as you would expect!!I cant imagine the 2.5 is under powered considering how good their engines are now!

It's an american expression, it means he likes it, it's pleasing to the eye etc...

i had my testdrive with a z4 3.0 6 speed manual fully loaded.
we´re probably placing our order next weeks.

I agree with that. I drove a sterling grey one the other day it was very nice. Plus it is so hard to keep a black car clean. I spend 100.00 a week keeping my black BMW clean.

I think its class. Can't wait to have a go.

i will not get my z4 before march 2004:
cause i want a z4 made by the "individual" company.

it´s a company owned by bmw. they make special paintings and leather and interior.


and t his individual programm for the z4 starts in march. so mine will be one of the first in march.

the colour will be "aurum metallic" or "brass metallic" with light cream interior and green maple wood trim.


mid of june i´l visit the showroom of the individual company. i make pic of the special colours so you will see them when i post them in the bmw forum.

if you look at the colors in the brochure or on the website, I think the last choice would be urban green. I went and saw one in person and am glad I did. I now own a Z4 3.0 urban green with the tan top and tan interior. This car turens heads of all ages and genders, and people go out of their way to compliment the color. If you are thinking of buying one, take a second look at urban green. The new styling loves this color.

Thats interesting! The styling of the Z4 has definately grown on me since I first saw them. I thought the performance is what lacked. I have driven lots of Z4's(my wife sells them). I think they should have put a larger motor, or even a supercharge like Benz does with their AMG's. I am definately underwhelmed with the performance(Raw Power). I can say that the thing is very fun to drive on the twisites(great handling).

Just saw it in the flesh yesterday for the first time.. all i can say is i couldnt take my eyes off it... it looks really, really good in the flesh... :cool: it was in dark silver, suited the car very well..

Ive definitely made my mind up on the Z4 now :D
