Z4: Hit or miss?crayzayjay 10-19-2002, 12:44 PM Well? Have BMW hit or miss with the styling? http://www.bmwworld.com/pics/z4/7808_1024.jpg http://www.bmwworld.com/pics/z4/7809_1024.jpg S Brake 10-24-2002, 03:04 PM I will wait for final judgement until I actually see the car in person, but it does look a lot better in BMW's new bmwfilms.com movie with clive owen called hostage. crayzayjay 10-29-2002, 10:18 PM We await your final verdict :bandit: PookJP 10-30-2002, 08:30 PM h.i.t YellowMaranello 10-31-2002, 06:25 PM I first thought miss, but it grew on me and now I'm leaning towards hit. DMC12 10-31-2002, 06:48 PM It looked good in the movie, but I saw one yesterday and they are SMALL like the Z3. I almosty ran over it with my Suburban... slikk 10-31-2002, 06:53 PM i like it .. the movie from BMW films made me do it hit crayzayjay 11-02-2002, 11:30 AM I first thought hit, but i saw a road test on TV and the front didn't appeal to me as much as it does in pictures. I like the back a lot though. They are SMALL like the Z3 I havent seen one in the flesh, which is when i will make a final decision on the looks, but on the telly it looked significantly bigger than the Z3  Neutrino 11-07-2002, 12:35 AM I love it. Much better looking than the Z3. Hope is not too small though. I guess i'll wait till i see one in person. PookJP 11-08-2002, 07:18 PM Originally posted by DMC12 It looked good in the movie, but I saw one yesterday and they are SMALL like the Z3. I almosty ran over it with my Suburban... It is? I thought it was a big as a Suburban! I mean, isn't the point of the car to be huge, sluggish, ugly, and dangerous? DMC12 11-08-2002, 07:29 PM Originally posted by PookJP I mean, isn't the point of the car to be huge, sluggish, ugly, and dangerous? So you want the Z4 to be like the 7 series? The Z4 styling cues are great, but it just needs some extra room in between the occupants and the cars around it. I wouldn't want to be in an accident in a Z4... and with the way people drive around here:eek: crayzayjay 11-09-2002, 10:19 AM Its a shame theyre not making an M version of the Z4... i would have liked to see a meaner looking Z4 and of course performance to echo the Z3M's, which was a rocket.... :flash: Oh well, im sure AC Schnitzer and Hartge will come up with a few concepts :D jinushaun 11-26-2002, 09:12 PM I say hit. I think it's beautiful. A roadster is far more susceptible to outrageous designs like 'flame surfacing' than a regular saloon. crayzayjay 11-28-2002, 02:25 PM I agree. Flame surfacing has a lot of potential. People who criticise it are boring, conventional b*stards Bruno 525TDS 12-02-2002, 05:12 AM It looks a lot better in real life than it does on any picture. When I first looked at a picture from the Z4, I thought that there was something seriously wrong with the nose. Now that I've seen it irl, I really like it. crayzayjay 12-02-2002, 01:21 PM I still havent seen it in the flesh, i dont know when it goes on sale in the UK Menu dei Motori 01-06-2003, 05:47 AM plzz donīt make your choice from pictures make it from person!!! when youīre standing next to it you donīt see these edges so much. i have driven the 2.5 with hardtop already... because my dad works for webasto.. they produce the hardtop!. and believe me it looks so good!!! crayzayjay 01-12-2003, 01:16 PM i have faith in you Menu, i will take your word for it Menu dei Motori 01-12-2003, 01:42 PM thanks! believe me.. itīs sweeeet. alst friday i have driven the 3.0 but with automatic :-( and a porsche cayenne turbo.. wow that is a great vehicle... but i cannot take pictures there... high security cause of the prototypes... crayzayjay 01-16-2003, 01:57 PM wow... you drove the Cayenne Turbo .. that must have been scary, although im assuming you didnt cane it (go too fast). you mentioned prototypes... where exactly did you go? Menu dei Motori 01-16-2003, 02:55 PM itīs the company my dad works for as a freelancer. he once was empoyed but got kicked out.. the chief who kicked him out was kicked out too, cause he kicked my dad :D then he did some other stuff and now they want him and need him again :D itīs OASYS open air systems two firms work together Webasto and pinninfarina... crayzayjay 01-17-2003, 08:50 AM I see... Good for your dad!! so what exactly does the company do? Im assuming they work closely with/for BMW Menu dei Motori 01-17-2003, 10:44 AM they build cabrio closing and openig mechanism (sorry i donīt know the exact word) mini cabrio for example (the new one) .... it will get a sunroof in the cabriolet mechanism ( but quiete :D) or the diablo roadster crayzayjay 01-17-2003, 09:00 PM a sunroof in a cabrio??? thats pretty impressive, but whats the point? Menu dei Motori 01-18-2003, 05:38 AM what dou you mean with ... "whatīs the point? sry... my english... :( crayzayjay 01-19-2003, 08:42 AM it means "what is the purpose", what is the reasoning, what is the logic.... i mean, a sunroof in a coupe, ok. it makes sense. but in a cabrio, it makes no sense Menu dei Motori 01-19-2003, 12:31 PM yea... thatīs what i also think... letīs wait and see... crayzayjay 01-19-2003, 01:41 PM i didnt think of this before.. is it a sunroof in a folding hardtop? Menu dei Motori 01-19-2003, 02:07 PM iīm not sure but i think so SuPeRcAr_MaN 01-19-2003, 02:36 PM I saw the Z4 in person yesterday. It is truly a lot nicer in the flesh than in pics. I sat in it and it has simple but nice interior. It is also less expensive than a lot of BMW's other sports cars. For around $35k, you are getting a true BWW sports car. Menu dei Motori 01-19-2003, 02:39 PM thanks me as a bavarian feels honored about these frienly warm words :D :spam: Menu dei Motori 01-19-2003, 02:43 PM Originally posted by crayzayjay Its a shame theyre not making an M version of the Z4... i would have liked to see a meaner looking Z4 and of course performance to echo the Z3M's, which was a rocket.... :flash: well wait! donīt say this... yes i know all say this! But wait 2-3 years. JZK316 01-19-2003, 10:20 PM I got to see one and sit in it one at a local autoshow. Its a nice car and I wouldn't mind owning one but I doubt I will. crayzayjay 01-20-2003, 09:32 AM Originally posted by Menu dei Motori well wait! donīt say this... yes i know all say this! But wait 2-3 years. They always say they won't but i think they will need it. "M" is essential to boost sales and image Menu dei Motori 01-20-2003, 09:53 AM Originally posted by crayzayjay They always say they won't but i think they will need it. "M" is essential to boost sales and image here in germany? not really! for america? of course! they will believe me itīs rumored already crayzayjay 01-20-2003, 10:02 AM well youre better placed to comment for Germany but "M" is very important for BMW's global image, not just the States lowridder11 01-21-2003, 06:24 PM yah tomlong 02-22-2003, 11:21 AM I have driven the Z4 several times and it is a very nice car if you are looking for a sporty 2 seater convertible. You have to get the larger motor though because the other one is pretty BLAH! In regards to an M version of it I think it will be a 2004 from what I heard. crayzayjay 02-23-2003, 05:24 PM well i dont know where you heard what you heard but BMW has said there will be no M version of the Z4... i personally think they will make one, but if theyre saying they wont you cant be too sure, especially not sure enough to set a date... so whats your source? cheers tomlong 02-23-2003, 07:01 PM My know alot of people who work at the local BMW dealer. They are all addicted to the cars and said that they were going to a training at BMW headquarters in April. They said they heard some noise about a new M roadster Z4 klogins 03-12-2003, 02:50 PM Hit. definitely a hit. pant-pant-pant crayzayjay 03-16-2003, 10:25 AM slightly worrying... you beating off to that Z4's rear? :hehe: dirk-diggler 03-16-2003, 10:29 AM miss, by a mile:frog: crayzayjay 03-16-2003, 11:04 AM despite the one-sided voting in this poll the Z4 has had a quite controversial reception by the public... i thought there would be more "miss" votes in here ales 03-16-2003, 11:05 PM Well, let me add another one then! :D Maybe it'll grow on me eventually, like their latest 7-series - now I can actually look at it without cringing! But for the moment it looks too cute and pretty and at the same time not balanced looks-wise. Just my opinion Alex crayzayjay 03-19-2003, 12:34 PM Have you seen BMW's award-winning new style of advertising? theyve made short films which are played in cinemas before the main feature... i saw one yesterday, it had a Z4 in it and goddamn it looked stunning... i think you'll change your mind about this one very quickly... i know i did :D kaoru-tochiro 03-19-2003, 01:16 PM The first time I saw that car was in Automobile Magazine, they showed a front shot and I did not like it. Something about those angled lines looked strange. But then I saw it on TV for those BMW films and i was "Wow, it is not and ugly car" so then I went to the dealer to get a brochure and I saw it in person and completely fell in love with the design. I love the front end "kidney grill" with those blades, and the headlights I also like. They don't have that "angry" look like the S2000 and the IS300 and even the new 5 series. The car has a lot of refreshing lines that I have never seen in an automobile. But if you look closely it is authentic BMW design. Those sharp lines on top of the front and rear fenders, they remind me of my '75 2002. This bold new design makes other new cars look rather bland. I would buy this car even if it had a 4 cylinder engine. alibrownbmw 03-20-2003, 11:29 AM Hi there! I've just had a sneak preview (up close, in person) of the new Z4 and the bodykitted Z4 german spec with a hardtop. It is beautiful, the rear spoiler is a bit over the top but everything else is sweet!!I saw a pre-production model but it was still top quality as you would expect!!I cant imagine the 2.5 is under powered considering how good their engines are now! cheers, ali alibrownbmw 03-20-2003, 11:31 AM This car hasn't been released in britain yet so, considering you've seen it before i guess my post wasnt actually that relevant! ali ///Milk 03-22-2003, 08:54 PM BMW Z4? kaoru-tochiro 04-09-2003, 11:33 AM Originally posted by ///Milk BMW Z4? Adam, what are you saying with that picture? I keep coming back here to see it but I still don't get it. Is Bush gonna hit it with a tank because he hates it?          crayzayjay 04-16-2003, 12:08 PM It's an american expression, it means he likes it, it's pleasing to the eye etc... Menu dei Motori 04-16-2003, 02:52 PM i had my testdrive with a z4 3.0 6 speed manual fully loaded. weīre probably placing our order next weeks. this car is so cute and the sound really greaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaattttt TexasF355F1 04-16-2003, 03:09 PM Bad ass menu, have you decided on a color? Menu dei Motori 04-16-2003, 05:14 PM saphirblack or sterlinggrey like my z3:flash: MX100 04-16-2003, 05:16 PM Hit Jimster 04-26-2003, 07:06 AM Hit- right in the Center- the Z4 is everything the Z3 is not:D crayzayjay 04-26-2003, 11:02 AM Originally posted by Menu dei Motori saphirblack or sterlinggrey like my z3:flash: Sterling grey! Black doesnt suit the Z4 as much as sterling! tomlong 04-26-2003, 09:37 PM Sterling grey! Black doesnt suit the Z4 as much as sterling I agree with that. I drove a sterling grey one the other day it was very nice. Plus it is so hard to keep a black car clean. I spend 100.00 a week keeping my black BMW clean. PhilC 05-18-2003, 12:45 PM I think its class. Can't wait to have a go. http://www.ampac.eclipse.co.uk/smallwildshot.jpg http://www.ampac.eclipse.co.uk/smalldrive.jpg Menu dei Motori 05-18-2003, 01:07 PM news: i will not get my z4 before march 2004: cause i want a z4 made by the "individual" company. itīs a company owned by bmw. they make special paintings and leather and interior. and t his individual programm for the z4 starts in march. so mine will be one of the first in march. the colour will be "aurum metallic" or "brass metallic" with light cream interior and green maple wood trim. mid of june iīl visit the showroom of the individual company. i make pic of the special colours so you will see them when i post them in the bmw forum. greets Marius kevin194514 05-19-2003, 07:06 PM the styling is definitely a miss, but the performance is excellent Z4newbie 06-24-2003, 01:56 PM if you look at the colors in the brochure or on the website, I think the last choice would be urban green. I went and saw one in person and am glad I did. I now own a Z4 3.0 urban green with the tan top and tan interior. This car turens heads of all ages and genders, and people go out of their way to compliment the color. If you are thinking of buying one, take a second look at urban green. The new styling loves this color. tomlong 06-27-2003, 01:06 AM the styling is definitely a miss, but the performance is excellent Thats interesting! The styling of the Z4 has definately grown on me since I first saw them. I thought the performance is what lacked. I have driven lots of Z4's(my wife sells them). I think they should have put a larger motor, or even a supercharge like Benz does with their AMG's. I am definately underwhelmed with the performance(Raw Power). I can say that the thing is very fun to drive on the twisites(great handling). crayzayjay 06-27-2003, 05:27 AM Just saw it in the flesh yesterday for the first time.. all i can say is i couldnt take my eyes off it... it looks really, really good in the flesh... it was in dark silver, suited the car very well.. Ive definitely made my mind up on the Z4 now :D :bigthumb: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
