Torque Wrench

I'm planning to remove the upper and lower manifolds and noticed that I'll need a torque wrench capable of 35 Ft. Lbs & 124 Inch Lbs.
Would it be accurate enough to use a wrench from 10 to 100 Ft. Lbs knowing that the upper manifold will be under torqued by .3333333333 repeating Ft. Lbs.
Or should a buy two torque wrenches?

yeah, I don't get the question either. torque specs are either foot pounds or inch pounds, I've never seen them combined.

There are 12 inch pounds in 1 foot pound. What he was asking was if his foot pound wrench would work... it would work, but I would question the accuracy that low on the foot pound wrench. His wrench goes down to 10 foot pounds which is the same as 120 inch pounds. Inch pounds are far more accurate at lower torques.

The real question is what year intake because the final torques are very different. 94-95 are 35 ft lbs while 96 up are like 11 ft lbs and if you do the 96 up at that higher torque GM states the block can distort and take the crank bearing out!

The truck is a 1992 CPI. I just didn't think that 4 inch pounds less would be a big deal. I understand that inch pounds are more accurate being smaller units of measurement. Most wrenches are accurate up to +-3% of selected range. If it were -3% that would be another 3.6 inch Lbs lower, making it 7.6 inch Lbs lower then spec.
I was hoping to save a little extra cash.

It depends how accurately you want to torque the fasteners. The manufacturer specifies a certain torque to ensure the fasteners are evenly torqued, and in many instances in a certain order, to maintain proper contact pressure between the two adjoining parts. Your foot pound torque wrench will only go down to 120 inch pounds accurately at it's lowest setting. At lower torque settings, an inch pound torque wrench is far more accurate and versatile. Inch pound torque wrenches are available from around $25 on up. There are several things on a vehicle that specify torque in inch pounds. Automatic transmission oil pans, engine oil pans and rocker arm covers just to name a few. You’ll use it more than you think you would.
