p1870 code

my 97 lumina shows a p1870 code, the guy at auto zone says i need to replace the tcc valve.. is it a big job? or should i just drive it.. it shifts ok i dont feel any slipage..

Big job, TCC solenoid is inside the tranny. It will get bad highway mileage if stuck off and may stall at a stop and be undriveable if it sticks on. Other than that, they sometimes will cause a shudder at cruising speed if it's trying to apply but can't fully...

Its a little more complicated. This is most likely a regulator valve and/or apply valve. The valve body needs to be pulled, and fixed and re-installed. Here is a website that can give you an idea of what needs to be done.

thanks guys, i will look into it.. i just went thru an intake gasket, and had a hell of a time figuring out what was wrong with my air cond.. turned out to be the control on the dash was bad it cost me $10.00 at the junk yard, just like the head light switch.. now this.. mabe change trany fluid and filter may pro long it untill i can get a new one next year.. thanks again..
