Hello all,

I am having problems removing a broken wheel stud and was wondering if anyone has any bright ideas as to an easier way of removing it. I have soaked it in PB Blaster for a night and tried to pound it out to no avail. Any info is much appreciated

Thanks.

It would help to include the car's year, make, trim level, and whether it's a front or rear wheel stud.

well, I got the old stud out and the new one in. Now, this isnt a car that I actually use on the road....I use it to drive between my barn and my house.

And this question may seem a bit far fetched. Well, besides the obvious, here goes. I had to grind the stud down about a 1/4in to get it in without having to pull the hub. I dont really think its going to affect it as much as it sounds but what do u think? the lug tightens down, a good bit, and its not like all the pressure is on only that stud. I understand they all work together but this one stud is about 1/8 inch too short.....again, this is not a car I drive at speeds higher than 45 down a dirt road....opinions?

Yes, you could drive it forever with only 4 studs and never have a problem, it will be fine the way it is

In the future, usually if you just grind off a flat spot on the head of the stud, it'll change the clearance just enough to slip into the hole without taking anything apart. If I understand right you removed length from the threaded end?

yea the replacement studs from the auto store are all threaded. The manufacturer ones have a dead spot at the end. So yea i had to grind down threads etc etc.
