Distributor replacementSolomon7 05-02-2007, 12:42 PM Yes i already searched. Is this as easy as I think it is or is there a way I could screw this up. My mechanic said not to bother finding TDC, to just put the new one back exactly the same way as the old one. HE mentioned somwthing about a slot in the distributor or something but he hasn't done one in a while. Any tips or pointers? MyS10 05-03-2007, 01:23 PM it is simple there are two screws on the cap..take them off then inside there is the rotor "its somtimes called a button" you will just pull it off and the new one will slide on..you cant screw it up unless you turn the whole destributer..its hard to do that so dont be worried about it..if your replaceing the cap then dont take your plugs off untill you put the new one on...then switch your plugs over one at a time...so it is as easy as you think..lol..well good luck Solomon7 05-04-2007, 06:10 PM made a big deal for nothin'. Just cautious. Thanks MyS10. wwwildman 05-05-2007, 10:12 PM Yes i already searched. Is this as easy as I think it is or is there a way I could screw this up. There is a notch on the distributor that marks where no 1 spark plug fires, make sure the rotor is lined up with it before you remove the distributor. If it is not, then turn the motore over by hand until it does. After you remove the distributor, look into the hole and you will see a large slot at the bottom, make sure this is turned by a large screwdriver so that it is at 11 o'clock. then just slide the new distributor in. once again once it is seated the rotor will be pointing at notch on the distributor. citizen@large 05-06-2007, 03:18 AM There is a notch on the distributor that marks where no 1 spark plug fires, make sure the rotor is lined up with it before you remove the distributor.
