Hi all,

I have a '97 Silverado with a broken driver's seat. I tried to take a picture of it, but it didn't help much. Basically as you are sitting in the seat the right side is pitched back at an angle that makes it uncomfortable and difficult to sit straight. I've so far been unable to determine if something fell out, something is bent, or something is broke. Also, I have been unable to figure out how to remove the back panel to access the inner area of the seat back. Could anyone provide some tips on accessing these seats, repairing them, etc.? Thanks in advance.

Took the truck to a local body shop for diagnosis. The frame of the seat back is severely bent. They said it sounds like this at least somewhat of a common problem since the dealer has a new part in stock - $200 - and there are none available at the local junkyards.

If anyone has info on disassembling this seat, I would appreciate it. I'd like to try and straighten this frame - as well as reinforce it - myself.

Thanks!

$200 will get you a brand new seat that will last 75k to 100k. that is way cheaper than you can fix it. the ck trucks used basicly the same seat for many years. so thay keep a bunch in stock. a budy of mine did a restore on a 85 scottdale. thay had the seats, dash, floor cover, door pannles all in stock.

Great, where do I get one? I'm assuming you are not talking about going to my local dealer and ordering a seat. The body shop guys were nice enough to bend this seat back together to some extent, so it isn't bad at the moment. I'll give it a couple of months before it's back to pitching me into the back seat.

Thanks for the reply!
