Toyota Corolla AE86 (56k not a good idea)AllAlone.Gz 05-01-2007, 08:28 AM I put aside my s13 project for it has gone into something horrible. In the painting process some warping and shrinking occured and now i need to srip and fix some spots. Anyway on with the eight-six. Note: Ignore the ElManana.Gz tag on the pictures. I used these pictures on another forum and these are my only originals. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86.jpg It started with an addition to the front, kind of a lip add on or something like that. Then I continued to the chassis and body. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86RearEnd.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Stand2.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Stand.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86StabdRear.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Camber.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Sig.jpg If youre still wondering why it says ElManana.GZ these are my pics of the model Im building but I use these pics on a different site, If you already knew on to more pics . . . So onto painting this little devil . . . http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ae86bodypaint.jpg Lots of people like the panda-eight-six color scheme. Im more into the urban drifter kind of look. Colors include Metallic red, semi gloss black. More pictures . . . http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ae86paintcomplete2.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ae86paintcomplete.jpg Wouldnt you know . . . after all this I had to screw up somewhere right? RIGHT!! Im not very good at painting and masking as you can see by the results of my roof . . . http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ae86paintmist.jpg For some reason I didnt think semi gloss black would mist onto my roof if i only covered all the body except the roof. Silly me huh? . . . Anyway I fixed it . . . http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ae86rooffixed.jpg So I waited like a week or two, left the body in a plastic container, and added some clear onto the mix. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Clear2.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Clear3.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Clear.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Clear2.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Clear4.jpg Still some orange peel in there but will be fixed later. While the body goes into drying ill work on the interior. The seats were done with two materials. SMS Carbon Fiber: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86BucketSeatCarbon.jpg And SMS Faux Fabrix Black: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86BucketSeat.jpg I really like the way Faux Fabrix leaves a fabric kind of look. I used to thin epoxy putty (quick type) and apply it with a brush then paint it over later. But now with this I can just spray it on. Quickly, I scratchbuilt me a racing exhaust whis is now layered with carbon fiber but Ill post a pic of it later. . . http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86ScratchExhaust.jpg So working on some of the dash features, I toothpicked in some knobs and buttons. But the macro on my camera is really bad to be able to see. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86CenterConsole.jpg On the process of detailing my dash I got this refrence picture and kind of want the same scheme. . . http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/S13InteriorReal.jpg Anyway I still need the paint to match the bottom grey parts. Ive done some work on the car like adding some miscellaneous wires from the dash to the trunk, random carbon fiber objects like handbrake, arm rest, and center console. I've seem to have lost my camera so I don't have any pictures of that. But ill snap some using my cheap 4 megapixel cam later. Thanx for looking! rod_k2 05-01-2007, 10:51 PM How come no replies?? :p That is looking terrific!! I really prefer the Red-Black 86 than the white black...But just a simple, flat red,not metallic. :p :uhoh: Keep up the great work!! EDIT: Is this the Aoshima 86?? chato de shamrock 05-02-2007, 12:00 AM I've got to try using that faux thing on some models. Its the second time i notice it used and it looks sweet. You're not going to open the holes on the head rest area of the seats? MidMazar 05-02-2007, 12:47 AM Nice progress, good job on the masking. Also i don't know if the wheels were included with the kit but really look great on it. Keep us posted. AllAlone.Gz 05-13-2007, 08:19 AM So seems like friday was "MY" day! Not only did I randomly come across my Cam, but I received a package that I was waiting for! http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff337.jpg Who knew, such happiness can come in a box? http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff338.jpg Oh what a feeling!!!!!:grinyes: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff339.jpg Big thanks to Hiroboy and HLJ for the stuff! :bigthumb: Anyway, so I began on the interior. The dash, seat, steering wheel, shifter, and handbake, were mounted and glued. I toothpicked in some buttons here and there and added some random wires next to the center console. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff342.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff343.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff344.jpg ^^^^Crappy pic taken with macroless camera. Heres a little close up of the wheels . . . http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff345.jpg And also I started to add some sponsor stickers onto the hood and windshield. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff347.jpg I know about the wrinkle in the CF, but I took care of it. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff348.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff350.jpg Body mounted in place. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff352.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff353.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff354.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff355.jpg Close up of the interior. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff356.jpg Adding some CF to the exhaust. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/ModelingAndStuff340.jpg Thats all I've got done for now. Im trying to add Carbon Fiber To the lights since they flip up, but I have a hard time applying decals to small pieces for some reason. I also need to clear coat the carbon fiber parts with clear, and the lip with smoke. Thanks! evil_hanzel 05-13-2007, 08:25 AM wow. ilove ae86s. nice touch on the rs watanabe wheels., also the wakaba badge on the windshield is a nice touch!! drawzer 05-13-2007, 10:02 AM Very nice one! I definitely need to buy CF decals! AllAlone.Gz 08-23-2007, 07:34 AM Thanx for all you're replies guys. It's been a while since I've done anything to my AE86. Its been a rough couple of months for me. I havent touched my models since early Jan. I've had problems with my 1:1 and been trying to take care of my financial situation. Since then I haven't had time to work on my models. Everything is fine now, and I can start working on them since I have less "dirt" on my shoulders. I have some progress on the lights. Ill post em up later. I'll keep you updated. BattleWagon 10-02-2007, 07:26 PM This AE86 is awesome!!! Which AE86 kit did you start with? Fujimi? AllAlone.Gz 10-03-2007, 06:44 AM Thanx! This is the aoshima kit. I'm in the progress of building the motor, but I'm having trouble deciding on what to do with it. See I got these velocitiy stacks from Hiroboy and I don't know If I should add them to this kit of save them for another? ATMDC 10-04-2007, 01:28 AM looks awesome but only one thing bothers me. most carbon fiber hoods have the pattern in diagonal lines. but it still looks aesome gj! AllAlone.Gz 10-04-2007, 03:09 AM Yea I know. I had some of that but I was saving it for another build. Thanx for the replies! cocoplus 10-13-2007, 07:24 AM I think the kid is by aoshima ! The kid is better than fujimi ~~~~ How nice it is!! ~~~~but I feel the direction of the carbon decal is strange Lownslow 10-13-2007, 01:53 PM i didnt like it at first but Cf grew on me Dboy23 10-13-2007, 02:04 PM Looking great, I really gotta learn how to do this stuff haha. AllAlone.Gz 10-30-2007, 09:21 AM After countless hours of work and irritating life related problems, I decide to take some time and appreciate some of the things that I enjoy doing . . . . . . like modeling. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorRebuild4.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorRebuild5.jpg So I decided to take the interior apart and strip the crap out of it! I started by removing the rear seats. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorRebuild3.jpg It was a pain but after a heated exacto blade and some help from my hobby saws, I managed to remove the rear seats without excessive damage. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorRebuild2.jpg Looks pretty good to me. So after that I drew out from styrene the part that will eventually become the stripped rear ad trunk. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorRebuild.jpg After a while of trying to get the right shape and lots of styrene gone to waste, I managed to shape out something close to what I needed. Here's how It looks so far. Now I need to get started on applying some putty to fill in some spaces, and paint the whole thing. The roll cage is being fabricated but I didn't have time to take any snaps of it. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorRebuild6.jpg So here's the plan: A) Add putty to cover up some spots. B) Sand to a flat surface. C) Paint the interior bare silver (or something like that.) D) Fit in the roll cage (Painted Mica Blue to resemble a Cusco cage.) E) Add other cool racing stuff. <-------- This one's a maybe. Well gotta go to sleep It's 6:00 AM here. Ill be up at 9 anyway. Thanx for looking. C&C Welcomed. EVO-VIII 10-30-2007, 09:11 PM Can't wait to see the rollcage KevHw 10-30-2007, 09:28 PM Can't believe I missed this. Firstly, I'm personally so glad it's not white, I like seeing the 86 in metallic red and looks like you've done a good job on the paint, minus the masking mistake in the beginning. Dashboard looks good and I like the racing theme behind this. I'm interested in seeing how the interior turns out, good luck. prortiz80 11-02-2007, 04:00 PM wow.........great work..........waitting to see more AllAlone.Gz 01-01-2008, 11:50 AM Wow, this model has turned into something. I started cutting stuff thinking I had something to aim for. The dash has had some additions added to it. You know, when you're running the mountain passes, you need to make sure your car is running good. So oil temp, water temp, and exhaust meters have been addded to the dash to make sure hat the driver sees that the car is running ok. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Dashboard2.jpg I also covered the radio. Who needs music when you can listen to your engine roar! Plus you need to listen to make sure you're rev matching properly. I also covered up the coin tray thingy . . . for some reason. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Cockpit.jpg To try and make the interior more suitable, I tried to cover up the gas tank and spare tire space accordingly. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86SpareCover.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86SpareCover2.jpg Circle was cut kinda crooked . . . .ok really crooked, but I'll fix later. Started to add some more suff to make the interior look stripped. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorBegining.jpg Then I lost it! http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86CutDoorPanels.jpg I cut the door panels out and glued some styrene to em. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86DoorPanels.jpg Continued the spare tire space . . . http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86SpareCover3.jpg And what's going on right now. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86IneriorMockUp.jpg So, this is how it sits right now. I have absolutely NO putty in my inventory, (I can't believe I rang in 2008 without any putty!) so I can't close up the spaces. Hopefully I'll get some later this week. Once again thanx for looking! Mister_S13_2 01-01-2008, 12:00 PM lookin good. lookin real good i like the metallic red. ur starting to get kinda ambitious with this one now :D but IMO, if u have time to look at the gauges, u aint goin quick enough not that i would know the meaning of quick i have a celica, but still, lookin 4ward to more progress evil_hanzel 01-02-2008, 02:27 AM here's a reference model site for stripped out ae86 model ktis. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&u=http://pcman.dion.jp/link/image_13/puramo_29.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dh he's the japanese master of ae86 model kits. :D here's the main ae86 page http://72.14.203.104/translate_c?hl=en&u=http://pcman.dion.jp/link/puramoderu.html&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dh evil_hanzel 01-02-2008, 02:31 AM here's another http://www.7tune.com/?p=104 AllAlone.Gz 01-02-2008, 07:50 AM Thanx Guys. Well, I know power might be everything but not for this AE86. Built with balance in mind. Thanx for those reference pix evil hanzel, that dude is seriously like amazing at scratchbuilding but I feel some of his creations are a bit too, how can I say this, Wild? Anyway, I've known about this dude since I bought my first AE86 model a couple of months back. I got these reference pictures to help me out on my build. http://www.hachi-roku.com/gallery/joel/4bodywork/03interior_prepaint/interior.jpg. Pretty good reference picture. I get to see al the reinforcement spots and where there were bolts and open spots. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Exterior.jpg So I'm trying to get these parts finished and stuff am Im struggling with the putty. So I decided to thin some Tamiya Quick Type putty into a mixing jar and apply the thinned putty with a brush. OMG was it alot easier! http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorStripping6.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorStripping5.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorStripping4.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorStripping3.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorStripping1.jpg I still need the two type putty to make the rear panels. Kinda like so . . . http://www.hachi-roku.com/gallery/joel/4bodywork/03interior_prepaint/interior2.jpg I also need to get started on adding the supports, holes and stuff. KP60 01-02-2008, 08:00 AM wow! great job so far! DjNightWolf 01-02-2008, 10:11 AM insane work! you have too much patience!=D keep it going! AllAlone.Gz 01-04-2008, 05:47 AM Continuing with this project . . . http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorSpotWeld.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorSpotWeld2.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorSpotWeld3.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorSpotWeld4.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorSpotWeld5.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorSpotWeld6.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86InteriorSpotWeld7.jpg Now I gotta wait till this weather clears up so that I can primer the thing. Gotta work on the door pannels now. . . adding a little carbon fiber to em. Just a little update before I get some shut eye. prortiz80 01-04-2008, 11:24 AM great job so far.......you make me want to strip one of my honda model's prortiz80 01-04-2008, 11:39 AM did u get those ref. picture from your own car? cause i cant't seem to find some for my civic i think i might have to strip it just for fun intuned 01-04-2008, 03:21 PM wow! nice build! i really like the work you're doing for the back part of the car! keep working like that, it's amazing to see Mister_S13_2 01-05-2008, 12:47 AM this is looking awsome! some great craftsmanship in this build!looking forward to the next update AllAlone.Gz 01-07-2008, 03:10 AM Alright it's time to update this thang. So I spent most of teh weekend sanding. I kinda got bored of the original body so I grabbed some putty and started forming some fender flares. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86FenderFlare.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86FenderFlare2.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86FenderFlare3.jpg So my arms are about to fall off. Once they felt better I tried to work on the rear quarter pannels. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86RearQuartePannel2.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86RearQuartePannel.jpg So I tried to get the body, door pannels, dash, chassis, and interior primered but the rain didn't give me a chance to. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86RearQuartePannel3.jpg Im waiting for the weather to give me a chance to finish this. Until then I guess I gotta fnd something else to do. Thanx. Mister_S13_2 01-08-2008, 04:27 AM shes lookin good, i think the flares are the cherry on top of one hell of a cake. im really enjoying this WIP. AllAlone.Gz 03-25-2008, 07:29 AM Uh where to start. Its been a pain trying to get the quarter panels just right. I had already scrapped 2 layouts. Getting kinda fustrated for the reason being 1)Im not getting what I aim for and 2) im wasting putty. So the third one was pretty good. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/86QuarterPannel.jpg There is a slight gap between the inside quarter panela nd the wall of the body, but I can fix it using a thick bar of styrene. I don't like the way the original body displays the trunk so I decided to redo the small space in the trunk. Not REDO but add a peice to make it look like a trunk. Like so . . . http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86TrunkSpace.jpg Much better! :grinyes: http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86TrunkSpaceFitment.jpg As you can see on the edges near the windows you can see that gap I was talking about. I scrapped the last cage. Not all of it. I was able to save some pieces but others were too big or were too wide to fit on the inside. This is what I've done so far. http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Cage2.jpg http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i167/dc2s14/AE86Cage.jpg Its been sanded down but I don't have pics of it right now. Its also going through some chopping. Still trying to get it right. As of right now I don't think I'll be able to update for a while. I'll be moving from my room onto another one and will need to put my kits away for a while. C&C Welcome! MidnightWangan 03-26-2008, 01:35 PM Amazing scratchbuilding work, as hardcore as that jap dude. Good stuff. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
