Can anyone help? I have a 99 jeep Cherokee and all 3 brake lights are out. I checked the fuses and replaced the lights. I also replaced the brake switch under the brake pedal. Any other ideas??? Could it be a short in the wiring. I've noticed in the last couple months that the passenger window works when it wants to as well as the turn signals. Is this all related?

Thanks for the year and other info... How many miles, Any recent work done, Last tune up, etc??? Manual/ Automatic Trans? etc, etc, etc, Everything helps!

Have you used an Ohm/Volt meter to see if you have any power at the connections? To AND From you problem areas?

When you get the loot, buy a Factory Service Manual (FSM - try 'googling') for your years systems. (at a dealership) About $100 USD

Thanks Citizen, it's about 140k miles, I know I need to do a tune up, it's been about a year but there's been no major work done except for replacing the starter. It's a automatic transmission. I'll use the volt meter and try that. Aloha thanks for the link.

Yeah, I checked with the volt meter. Everything has juice. I tried checking the electrical scemmatics but it was like reading hyroglyphics for all I know. :banghead: This is driving me nuts!

Try getting one of the older guys from Advance Auto or Auto Zone to give you some free help. Always works for me when my mechanic buddy's not around and I'm stumped.

According to the wiring diagram...

All three lights can be out because of the fuse or the brake light switch.

Reading a diagram is easy. It is like plumbing. Water is at the top and it flow down. Positive in USA cars have positive at the top and flow down to the ground, or the negative (which is grounded).

Aloha and best regards...
