Overheating 2004 DurangoAmerican645 04-26-2007, 12:45 PM Goodday to everyone. I have a bad problem which just suddenly happened a couple of days ago. My Durango is overheating and I really do not know the problem. I'm doing research and troublshooting the situation, and i still can't find the problem. My warrenty just expired last month, so I guess I'ts all on me. I changed the thermostat and the problem still persist. What I have noticed though, is that my clutch fan spins freely with a little tension when my engine (4.7l) was very hot. Also there was know circulation in the radiator when the engine was running. While driving on the highway you might think she would cool down but the temperture gauge shoots right up. I'm trying to avoid the dealer. and Its also a lease.:nono: Any suggestions? Talon69 04-29-2007, 02:57 PM You say coolant is not circulating? Your water pump could be bad. American645 04-30-2007, 10:15 PM Well thank you for your reply, I just changed the water pump three days ago. And now she is still overheating but not critical from before. Now the mechanic said that it might be the head gasket. The engine is blowing heat back in the antifreeze. Could this be possible? The best thing about it, My warrenty just ran up 1200miles ago. Talon69 05-01-2007, 06:55 AM it is possible for it to blow back into the cooling system. Before changing the head gasket i would do a compression test 1st to see what your cylinders look like. Also you say its not as bad now since the water pump change? Im not saying this could be it but maybe your system is air bound now? (have a bubble in there that will not pass) dogde2003overheat 06-07-2007, 07:12 PM hello i am looking for some help in helpless deal with a dodge durango overheating. i have change thero, water pump, flush rad out and rad cap. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
