Hey all. I've got a 91' Lesabre and it's stalling out randomly. I have read a few of the threads on here and I've checked a couple of things out. I've also checked the Autozone online repair guide and done the procedures for checking the IACV and the EGR. The IACV checks out okay as far as the resistance measurements, and I cleaned it up good as well as the inside of the TB and whatnot.

When I measured the resistance of the EGR, the values do not match what Autozone's guide says it should. Does anybody on here know if that means that it is bad?

Also, does anyone know if there is a way to clean or fix this egr valve? I don't really have the $200 for the new EGR right now just to diagnose(especially since I don't know if that's exactly what's wrong) Thanks in advance guys!

Well, this stopped acting up a few days after I made my original post. I cleaned the throttle body up, along with the IACV and the EGR valve with some carb cleaner. Seemed to run fine for awhile.

Now it shuts off and starts back up randomly while driving. Down the highway, around town, whenever. It shuts off but starts back up again(by itself).

Any ideas?

Have you checked for trouble codes?

Just checked. It's only giving the code 12.

Let's start by cleaning the battery cables.

Some of the GM cars have two battery cables that come together under a single rubber boot. Remove the bolts & the rubber boot from the cables and clean the cable ends with sandpaper or wire brush. Apply dielectric grease to help prevent future corrosion & reassemble. Let us know what you find & we'll proceed from there.

Well, I just took the battery terminals off and cleaned/greased them up. We'll see what it does because it does it when she's driving and she wont' be doing any driving tonight. I'll update.

Well, it ran great yesterday with no issues, and today it ran fine until parking it for the night. It stalled out as it was being parked.

What's next?

When was the last time the plugs & wires were changed?
I'd also check for any vacuum leaks.

a common problem u need to check on these is the fuel pump, check the pressure to see if it is bad. also the crank sensor cause a start and stop kinda effect. check it also if possible
