is a short shifter worth it?shepworldwide 10-16-2002, 09:41 AM do you enjoy having a short shifter? gimmezell 10-16-2002, 09:45 AM If you dont' get one, you would be that much closer to getting that swap or turbo. At least that's what I tell myself. :licker: shepworldwide 10-16-2002, 09:54 AM well i already have a b16a2..(slowly being built) i just read about people who have to bend there exaust out of the way and crap like that ,but is it worth it? does anyone feel it's benifical in any way? i saw 1 on ebay for 20 bills? civickiller 10-16-2002, 03:21 PM idk how different the 5th gen is to the 4th gen but i have a ebay short shifter on my car and i love it. i didnt have to modify anything on my car to get it to fit. i never had to bend my exhaust shepworldwide 10-16-2002, 03:24 PM thanx killa! u always seem to be around when i need n awenser session?:bandit: :smoka: Whtehnda93DXSdn 10-16-2002, 04:15 PM I just got a cheap no name short shifter on my 5th gen sedan and I installed the Neuspeed bushings w/ it and I love it. It also helped me shift quicker w/ the shorter throw to increase my 1/4 time.. it's a good investment but make sure you hit your gears right w/ the stock shifter cause if not you will end up grinding gears when you go w/ the short shifter... hope this helps...:frog: shepworldwide 10-16-2002, 04:21 PM what do the bushings do ? lake_hawk 10-17-2002, 09:23 PM I have a '93 civic CX with a swapped SI, and I also have the short shifter, it helps in driving and in racing i don't do drags but i do autocross. And it's probably a mental thing too, if you think a 1/4 inch difference is gonna do anything then it probably will if you don't think so it probably won't. i say do what i did, drop in a new engine, ceramic headers, hi-flow cat and all new 2 1/2 inch piping to the aftermarket muffler civickiller 10-18-2002, 01:53 AM like you know how rubber bushings get soft and crack and break sometimes, and if this happens to your shifter bushings then you get alot of play with the shifter and sometimes you cant or its hard to get it into gears. getting bushings makes everything more smooth, urethane bushings. the bushing itself holds the bolt that holds the shifter in place, so if the bushing gets worn out then it wont hold the bolt and shifter in place so that causes alot of play in the shifter. kinda hard to explain just get under and look at it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
