1992 240sx wont start....elreycolima 04-20-2007, 12:59 PM hello everyone. i have a 240sx hatch in good condition but today it just would not start. i thaught it was the battery beacause i turned the key and it just clicked once, but would not attempt to start. so i asked my neighbor for a jump and still it did nothing. is the battery dead and i need a new one or do i have a big problem. slideways... 04-21-2007, 04:27 PM sounds like the starter possibly, but make sure your battery is good first. johnnyboy5 05-27-2007, 03:31 PM hey i have that same problem. Ive been working on it for 2 days already. I went to the junkyard and got two other starters. Replaced my starter with the other ones, Didnt work. I went to autozone to test them. One guy tested them, said they failed. Honestly i think the didnt have a clue of what he was doing so I went to a different autozone and tested them and the guy told me they passed. ????? This is what I've done so far. Replace starter. Check fuses Check for proper ground. Replace battery cables. Buy a new battery. Still nothing. And the new starters cost $150. So i dont wanna buy one unless i have to. Anyone else have an idea what it is????? Relay Perhaps?? Where is it? 240SXSlideStar 05-29-2007, 09:14 AM If it's manual, turn the key to the on position, get out and push the car to get it rolling, when it's going fast enough, jump in and push in the clutch, put it in first gear and pop the clutch (it has to still be rolling). If the car starts, the problem is 100% the starter or the connections to the starter. (Make sure the car is rolling fast enough and that you put the key to the on position (not accessory).) johnnyboy5 05-29-2007, 11:04 AM Thanks for the tip. I didnt know that bump starting could serve as a diagnosis. At least I got a nice work out for a few days bump starting my car to get to work and all, and walking more from parking on hills. Anyway, I found my problem yesterday. I went with my uncle and checked it out. It was just a bad connection/contact. There was no power going to the starter. So we took the starter relay off and tested it with a test light. It was no good. There was no contact. Since i didnt have time to go to the junkyard, we just opened the relay, cleaned it, and soldered what was not making contact. And it worked! Man i was happy. I'll buy the part later. So for Mr. King Colima, that might be your problem too, or at least you can check the relay to see if its working. Its located next to the battery under the fender, its blue. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
