Stuck brake rotor on 98 drivers sidegolfwanker 04-18-2007, 04:31 PM I can't get the rotor off the drivers side, have beat heated it broke a 3rd of it off but NNnnnOoooooo it.s not moving. How hot can I get get it before it stsrts melting stuff? golfwanker 04-18-2007, 05:18 PM OK I broke the whole rotor off now it's just the ring that has the lug's poking thru it. But I can see the problem,Rust about 16th inch thick all the way around the inside of the rotor that would not let it come off. Broke all the rust out of there and letting soak in PB blaster. Jason43 04-18-2007, 11:16 PM Try a cold chisel and a hammer. Coat the hub with a little anti-seize so this doesn't happen again. microrub 04-23-2007, 01:31 PM I can't get the rotor off the drivers side, have beat heated it broke a 3rd of it off but NNnnnOoooooo it.s not moving. How hot can I get get it before it stsrts melting stuff? I also ran into the same problem on my 98 contour. Hammered the entire brake ring off and bent a flywheel puller tool also. I ended up micro roto tooling, the remaining brake rotor, with a circular smal disc to make a line exposing the surface between the rotor and the axle hub. Took about 10 discs (they are the size of a quarter) and made a line about 1 to 2 inches. Once that was done I was able to get some penetrating inbetween (WD) the surfaces. Winthin 10 minutes of spraying the remaining rotor came off. Good luck - and make sure you use anti-seeze lube in the future. flybynight 05-05-2007, 02:18 PM :shakehead lol you could make like a lot of mechanics i know and go at it with a large sledge hammer, works for them. not sure how good it is for the car when they beat them that much but im sure you'll be more careful. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
