turn signal fails to turn off-Cherokee 1997tgrudzin 04-16-2007, 05:22 PM Left turn signal fails to shut off after left turn. I was told this is a "multifunction switch" estimated around $130+ for the part, plus labor. Can I do the repair myself? My first mechanic couldn't estimate the labor. I'm OK in a car, brakes, water pumps, raditaors. Don't have any special steering wheel tools. Like the other post, it needs to be repair for the 1st time driver in the house. AlohaBra 04-16-2007, 09:37 PM Search this forum....I remember a post on this. The part is not that expensive. Stick89 04-18-2007, 12:45 PM It's called a TURN SIGNAL CANCEL CAM.....the pic is one for an 89'XJ http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/126/tsccap1.jpg SW1940 $47.99 AutoZone........might be $130 a dealer price....you'll hafta pull the steering wheel...and IF you have one the lockplate.....Could possibly be that the screws that hold the switch in place are loose...check that first..should be like 3 all phillips head..... car5car 04-18-2007, 02:01 PM I just replaced one on my 97 Cherokee. U don't need to remove steering wheel to replace it. Pretty easy. I would estimate 20 min job for a mechanic. You need to remove 2 covers around steering column. I don't remember if I had to lower st column. Maybe you will need to remove lower cover under dashboard and drop column in order to remove 2 covers around st column. One screw holding switch needs star wrench, I used pliers instead and another screw to install. Call dealership about price. Stick89 04-24-2007, 06:07 AM I just replaced one on my 97 Cherokee. Wipers.... Cruise.... This switch works with the TS cancel cam...gotta internal pic some place lemmee see if I can find it..... Here it is.... http://img167.imageshack.us/img167/9563/cancelcamzn0.gif Those 4 screws IF loose will cause the signals not to turn off ESPECIALLY A since it holds the TS lever in place......... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
