Hi guys... Alright I'm at the point in my project where I'm gonna work on the tranny. I was originally gonna install a Trans Go shift kit, bit I'm not sure what I'd be accomplishing with that. What I'm looking for is firmer shifts, specifically at or close to WOT. But the main thing that I want is for the transmission to treat overdrive as a fourth gear so that it will shit into it even at WOT. How would I go about doing that?

I don't have the instructions in front of me, but you can do this by replacing a spring behind a valve in the valvebody with a spring that has a stronger rate. MT-2500 or Blue Bowtie can hand you more information on this.

You will need to install a modified throttle valve spool and sleeve to allow full-throttle upshifts to OD. One such kit is the Sonnax 77966-94MK.

Where could I purchase this kit? I Google'd it and didn't have so much luck finding a place to buy.

Makco has them.

TCI probably does, too. As well as PATC, and a host of others.

Very cool. Thanks! Now before I go ahead and purchase this I have one more question (well actually two). Will this involve drilling out that section of the throttle body to a larger size? Also aside from allowing the transmission to shift from 3rd to 4th at WOT will it affect normal shifting performace?

#1, No.
#2, No.

I'm a man of few words.

I like that, right to the point. Thanks! It won't come w/ instuctions or diagrams would it?

It may or may not include instructions.

The only special tool you will need is a good pair of internal snap ring pliers, straight tip with 0.045" points. A strong pickup magnet might be helpful, but if you're doing this with the trans in the vehicle, gravity will be on your side. You'll need to have about five quarts of new trans oil, and a new filter is always a good idea.

Once the pan is removed, remove the filter to provide better working space.

To the right of the filter pickup tube opening (toward the dipstick) you should see a recess with a snap ring holding the TV against a spring. Hold the valve spool upward and remove the snap ring, then carefully and slowly allow the valve to drop. Pay close attention to the arrangement and order of the individual parts as they drop from the valve bore.

If you compare the original valve and sleeve to the replacement, you can see the modifications done to allow full-throttle OD shifts.

Wow, cool. It doesn't sound all that difficult. Thanks so much! I'll use your instructions as my manual when I'm in the process. Sounds like you've done this before.
