Making a return...ZedEx 04-11-2007, 12:54 AM Well guys, hopefully this deal is going to work out. A friend of mine has a '93 non-turbo Zed coupe manual, he's looking to get into a reliable Honda, and I've been trying to trade my '97 Prelude Type-SH daily driver for another car. So I have a chance to get back into a Zed for my daily driver. The engine was originally fully built for nitrous, it had a 100 shot, and was actually pretty quick. When he got the car, he uninstalled the nitrous, he didn't want to risk the engine's integrity. That did a lot of NO good, the engine spun a bearing and destroyed the entire bottom end. I'm not sure what could have caused the bearing to spin A JDM VG30DE was installed (The shop charged him $4,000 for LABOR... BWAHAHAHA), and it's running good right now. The modifications are as follows: -Stillen exhaust -Stillen headers -Custom testpipes -ACT Stage III clutch -Fidanza lightweight flywheel -JWT single Pop-Charger -Black 17" wheels of somekind, not too sure, but they look like NISMO LM-GT4s with a polished lip. It's the same color as Freak's Zed, looks nice with the wheels. Anyway, here's my question. I've been out of the Zed game for so long, I've forgotten, what are the problems with these cars again? What do I need to look out for? What do I need to check often? I can't remember specifically, but I believe it goes something like: -TIMING BELT -PCV valves -EGR valve/arms Anything else I'm forgetting? Thanks in advance guys, hopefully this is my return. We'll see. Broke_as_**** 04-11-2007, 02:34 AM Did you forget how to read a FAQ? Did you forget how to ****in search you lazy whore? Did you forget that only the donut punching, pink car driving, wine cooler crowd call it a "Zed"? http://twinturbo.net/ttnetfaq/FAQpages/usedpurchasing.html http://twinturbo.net/net/viewmsg.aspx?forum=technical&msg_id=952659 The older style electrical connectors are more prone to corrosion than the later styles. This tends not to be a problem if you don't mind spending a bit of time cleaning connections and maybe splicing in a new connector or two as time goes by. The early style fuel injectors have begun failing recently, it's believe to be linked to the inclusion of ethanol in gas in the past few years. What exactly it is that the ethanol does to the injector that causes it to fail is in dispute. There isn't any part in particular that the Z32 eats on a regular basis. ZedEx 04-11-2007, 09:37 AM Yeah, I forgot all about that whole searching thing. ;) robzone0911 04-12-2007, 08:26 PM A JDM VG30DE was installed (The shop charged him $4,000 for LABOR... BWAHAHAHA), and it's running good right now. The modifications are as follows: Damn that sucks..... when I did my first VG30DE swap myself i only spent $2200 on the motor, tranny, and some goodies. I also put it in in under a month. All I can say to that is..... ouch! As for getting a Z again, sweet......... DeleriousZ 04-12-2007, 08:38 PM yeah good luck with this one wes... sounds like it's professionally done anyway... hope the mechanic knew what he was doing if he took that long (if that labor charge was per hour..) Hodo 04-14-2007, 02:47 PM Thats ALOT of labor........ he got RAPPED! BTW good to hear your getting a Z again. xXxRocker5150 04-15-2007, 01:34 AM what happend to you purple TT??? freakonaleash1187 04-19-2007, 04:29 PM Good to hear you will be getting another Z. If the labor really was $4k, then it sounds like the mechanic took his time on installing the engine, either that, or he didn't know what he was doing and it took him forever. Either way, I hope you get this Z as Sapphire Blue is the best color ever. :) longlivetheZ 04-22-2007, 10:29 AM I got me a new ride yesterday...:D DeleriousZ 04-22-2007, 02:37 PM orly llz? what'd you get? longlivetheZ 04-22-2007, 04:51 PM :D '02 SE-R Spec-V...haven't signed the papers yet. It's going to my mechanic tomorrow, then if he gives it his thumbs up, it's a go. The new ride.
