96 villager....whining soundFitztex40 04-10-2007, 02:59 PM I have a 96 Villager with 152,000 miles. I just put new spark plug wires, spark plugs, oil change, new tires, new axles (left & Right), new water pump, rear shocks, front struts and alignment. Here is my problem now.........seems like on right front side a whining sound but can't determine where or what it is. The power steering seems to be fine and has fluid but do notice that when I turn left sounds like something rubbing and also when I first start up (starts fine) but the whining sound from right side. I also notice that when I give gas the whining sound is worse. What could this be? All belts look good. :banghead: dzus 04-10-2007, 10:29 PM If your motor & tranny mounts haven't been replaced I'd bet money they're shot. Fitztex40 04-11-2007, 02:17 PM a friend said it sounds like the idler pulley locked up or going out. will check this out soon as i can and let everyone know. IH8SPM 04-13-2007, 09:42 AM You need a new upper idler pulley bearing or you can replace the the whole pulley. I had the same problem on mine. They cost about $30 bucks at autozone or any other automotive store. I hope that you had your acc belts changed as well as your timing belt. If not replace all your belts now to avoid another job in the future. Fitztex40 04-15-2007, 12:54 AM yep, it was the idler pulley and put on new belts. Now it is running great again. :) IH8SPM 04-15-2007, 08:47 AM Great! Thanks for posting back your results. Most people come in and get the help and never bother to say thanks with a follow up. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
