Ok I've been researching this and I need some help. First, there is nowhere around here in Western Arkansas close by that races touring cars. But that is what I want. Specifically I'm looking at this kit http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=58375. Does this come with a motor or is this something that will be extra. What kind of motor and what is a ballpark price. Speed controls and servos? What is good stuff to get as far as a radio controller? Don't know what you guys call them. Basically I don't understand the electronics side of this hobby at all. Keep in mind I probably won't be racing it and just want something fun to mess with.
Thanks for any help,
Brandon

You will be looking at around 100-150$ for Radio/Servo/ESC/Motor.

Novak Makes some REALLY high quality ESC's. Orion makes some really nice motors.. Tend to stick with the 'Bigger' names as they're the more proven brands and 9 out of 10 times they work alot better too.

Expect to pay around 35-65 dollars for a decant ESC, 20-45$ for a decent Motor. And in the ball park of 60-100 for a decent radio.. I recommend a JR Xr2i which is 99 dollars and comes with 2 servos and a receiver stock. I don't know what you ultimate budget is.

Basically the ending price is going to fluxuate determined by your 'needs' should I say..

How fast do you wants to go? Want to go so fast its nothing but a blur going past you? or just want something thats quick enough to impress your friends? It's all up to you.

there is the kit I presume you want right? It looks as if it comes with a motor, albeit a really slow, and cheap motor but it will work.

now I'm going to list some possible speed control/Motor combonations.

First up, DTX Intellispeed:

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGZX1&P=0

Its good till 18t, (around the turn of most stock motors)

next,

Novak GTS Pro, your better choice.. It's good till 12t and with 12t you will really be haullin ass then.

On tower I don't see very many good options but those two, I would go with the novak but like I said, your budget decides everything.

Here's a REALLY good deal, no motor limit (run any motor you please, 8t-40t and everywhere in between.

Now onto the motors:

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXJAH8&P=0
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXPRF6&P=0
http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFSX8&P=0

Theres lots more too, just look around..

But, lower the turns= less torque but more rpm, more RPM = faster but less torque = not much punch off the line.

Here are some good radios, since you're going electric you only need 1 servo.. (don't beleive tamiya, electrics only take 1 servo, they say you need 2)

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXCFW2**&P=0

Good radio, I use it on my Nitro RS4, never given me a problem.

Another good radio, I tend to stay away from futaba (personal preference)

http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXDEL3**&P=0

and prolly the best cheap choice, can't go wrong with a Hitec.

Are you looking to drift or for just speed? if your looking for speed i highly suggest going brushless. you should check out the mamba 5700, 6900, and the 7700. with these motors you will be hitting speeds of 30mph all the way up to 60mph+ :evillol: :naughty: :iceslolan :smokin: the link is http://castlecreations.com. going brushless my be a little more but its a whole lot better in the long run. you will never have to worry about matinance again and you have crazy fast speeds. also look into gettin Li-Po or Li-Mn batterys for crazy power and long run times. hope this helps
