95 caprice 4l60e swap to a th350CaliLivin 04-06-2007, 06:49 PM i have a 95 caprice with a 4l60e tranny that is bad, i will rebuild when i can take a transmssion rebuil class in sept. Meanwhile i have a th35o in my garage that i wanna install till sept. I know it will bolt up and i know i might have driveline issues and trans mount issues thats fine, but by not having the 4l60e trans wire harness not pluged in will this cause a problem? no speedo is ok with me silicon212 04-06-2007, 06:56 PM Since the PCM on that car is designed to work with both the engine and transmission, I would think you would spend more money to get the TH350 to work with it, than to rebuild the 4L60E or even get one from a junkyard, even if the TH350 was given to you for free. Blue Bowtie 04-06-2007, 10:40 PM You could rebuild it now, so you can ask a lot more educated/experienced questions in your autumn class. Get an ATSG manual for the 4L60E and have at it. CD Smalley 04-07-2007, 06:26 AM Ditto to the above comments. Yo be time and money ahead if you just rebuild it now. CaliLivin 04-07-2007, 06:22 PM anyone here rebuild a 4l60e?? im no stranger to wrenchin on my car ive just never tried 2 rebuild a tranny, is it difficult? silicon212 04-07-2007, 08:43 PM There are a lot of parts, but it isn't difficult. Mainly pay attention to things such as end play, clutch stack thickness, gasket and ball valve placement, etc. Blue Bowtie 04-07-2007, 10:32 PM Thumb through this article and you'll get an idea - Then get a manual. It'll be the best $15 you'll ever spend on a transmission: 4L60E Repairs (http://72.19.213.157/files/4L60ERepairs.html) vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
