Parking brake

I just bought a 2007 Lucerne CX last week. I love this car. In my mind it is like an extension of the Park Ave that was selfishly taken from me in an accident by some ignorant, UNCARING.............oooops.......I forgot why I was here.......

I have two other classics that occupy my garage, so the Lucerne sits in the driveway. The driveway is on a pretty good slope, so checking fluids is a royal pain in the neck of moving cars all over the place. But my real concern is if I should be using the parking brake to take stress off of the tranny or would that just be acting paranoid¿

One more thing....
What is with the gas gaige on this thing?
I park the car with 3/4 of a tank and a fuel range of 300 miles and when I get back in it's little more than half and 275 mile range.Very hard to determine how much gas you really have.

Well, as you may have read, I absolutely hate mine. Happy that you got a good one.

When you take you car out of "Park" in your driveway without the parking brake on, is it difficult to do? Do you get a 'clunk'? If so, I would put the parking brake on. It will take the pressure off the transmission pawl. It is a good idea to use the parking brake every once and awhile anyway, to keep the brake caliper and cable running freely.

Yes, the gas gauge is wacky. On a full tank, I drive 10 miles and the needle starts to come off full, and from there on rapidly goes to half full. Then it seems I can drive days on half a tank, and the needle doesn't move at all.
Then slowly it goes to 1/4 and I fill up. I have never checked the fuel range, but I am sure it is just as wacko as the gauge.

The Lucerne is a beautiful looking car, turns heads. That said, mechanically and the poor highway ride, mine is a big disappointment, and I will never by a Buick again. Good luck with yours.

No clunk, but it's not a hassle so some good preventative measures may save me alot of trouble in the long run.

We should all get in the habit of using the parking brake, that is what it is there for!
Back in the days before Chrysler decided to put a park position on their cars you had to use the parking brake if you wanted it to be there when you returned!
