Since a few days ago, after a fairly challenging trek in the local desert, my Terrano wagon tends to creak when it goes over a bump in the road.

I have narrowed the source to the flange unit on the rear door to which the spare wheel is attached. I have dismantled the rear wheel, removed the jack (held inside the flange unit), cleaned and oiled all the parts and reassembled with care that there is not sufficient freedom of movement for the jack to knock on the flange. The whole rear wheel assembly is now clean and in good working order BUT....that annoying creak is still there if I jiggle the rear wheel or ride over a bump.

Any ideas?
