Hello!

I have looked and tried various methods to try and program additional remotes for my 1998 Park Avenue.

This is what my Diagnostics Connecter looks like:

Which pins would I connect together?

Can it be done with a paperclip?

& do I need to do anything 'special' like leave the key in the ignition in the off position or close the door?

Thanks In Advance!

The procedure is located at our Buick Tips & Maintenance forum. See link below.

Thank you bnaylor for your response.

I was able to program my remotes with a bit of trial & error as follows:

1. Insert paperclip (or other fuse wire) into the 2nd row; first slot & 5th slot with silver receptors inside.

2. Close the doors (required) & open windows (In case it's very hot outside like it is here)

3. Put car into "ON" position (as far as it will go before cranking the engine)

4. The doors will Lock & Unlock

5. Hold down Lock & Unlock Keys on 1st Remote for 30 seconds until the locks cycle on the car (they will lock & unlock).

6. Repeat for all other transmitters (up to 3 more; 4 total)

7. Remove Jumper Wire (Paper Clip)

8. Take key out and try the remotes!

Here is your ALDL with the pins numbered and 4 & 8 with arrows showing as jumped. The view you provided is upside down according to the way the numbering sequence takes place. Anyway, here it is with the correct numbering for the pin-out.

Ah Okay.

That makes more sense.

Thanks for clearing that up HotZ28!

=)

Happy day.
