ok so i finally got my car to pass the saftey inspection, cleaned up the interior and exterior, and i thought everything was going great.

Well i took my friend out for a spin and was showing it off, and he got all excited and such, turns out he'd never gone that fast in a car before, and asked if he could drive it. I didnt see why not, it was mechanically sound (or so i thought). i showed hin how it had a voice and crap, then i stopped it, put the e- brake on, and let him hop in the drivers seat. He took it for a spin with me in the passengers and the little punk dropped it into second @ 4 grand. i yelled at him but i noticed that there was no traction issue, and ive done that once or twice and it loves to go squirrely, so i told him to pull in about a mile or so ahead, then he said he couldnt get it into gear properly. so it coasted to the stop sign and i got him to turn it off, i got in to see what he was talking about, and the clutch felt.... limp. also when i popped the hood it smelled like burning brakes. sso i looked and the little.... guy.... forgot to release the parking brake(dunno why the voice didnt chime in...) so lo - behold 3 things went very wrong.
1) i didnt notice him not dis-engage the parking brake
2) he dumped the clutch at 4 grand
3) i actually let him drive (which will never happen again)
Now the problem im having is, i can get it into any gear, but it will not accelerate at all. i can put it in first, and rev it up to 5000 rpms but it moves at a crawl.
i know im not the smartest when it comes to mechanics but ive never seen anything like this...
any advice would help.
im going to try it in the morning and see if anything has changed? i doubt it tho....

clutch is cooked it sounds like

my old man said torque converter?
also the clutch now feels just like it did before...

if its manual, you dont have a torque converter, it sounds like you gotta clutch to replace....

The clutch disk is fried. Seen it. Done it. Replaced it. (just not in a Z!)

well crap. Thanks alot guys, appreciate it. Ive never replaced a clutch before, but why not learn now?
Does anybody here know where i can pick up a replacement clutch? Im going to check out black dragon, seeing as they have alot more than anybody else for my car. Dunno if i still have their catalog here but ill check.

ok so i have 2 quotes as is.
for them to supply the clutch and replace it is 1000$(CDN) with an 80 000 km warrenty.
Or the other tranny shop is saying 292 to drop the transmission and put it back, abd about 1 hour to replace the clutch if i provide it (187.44 US). But theres no warrenty from them, just manufacturer warrenty.
Or i can try it myself... which i have never done...

i was charged around $850 for when they installed my clutch, because my exhaust was EXTREMELY seized on there and it took them 2 hours to get it off... if you have a stock exhaust, or an aftermarket one with flanges on it, you should be able to do the job yourself provided you have access to all of the basic hand tools, as well as a good jack and jackstands/ramps. just try and becareful when you're doing it to not drop the tranny on yourself... those things are pretty heavy and hurt like a bitch when they land on you

it shouldn't take an hour to replace the clutch disk itself... especially in a shop environment.

so a hydralic jack, some stands, basic tools and a hanes manual. all of which i have. clutch should be here in a week... and i get to ride my bike...
