Automatic trans.

When i put it in neutral it revs up fine ,but under load it will not get over 2500 rpm.

I am hoping it is just starving for fuel.

Can anyone suggest a good place to start looking for this problems source?

Replaced the fuel filter ,this fixed the problem.
